COMANCHE COUNTY, OKLA (KOKH) — The Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge has issued a temporary hiking restriction due to extreme heat forecasted this week. The refuge is experiencing heat with forecasts exceeding 100 degrees. Due to these conditions, the hiking restriction will go into effect on Wednesday, July 1, until further notice.

Man sentenced to five years for second-degree murder tied to fentanyl overdose death

ENID, OKLA (KOKH) — An Enid man has been sentenced to five years in prison after he plead guilty to second-degree murder in connection with an overdose death. James Michael McCauley Jr., age 28, plead guilty on May 28, 2026. On April 5, 2025, Enid police officers responded to a report of an unresponsive male at an apartment in the 300 block of North Adams. Nathan Andrew Ritchey was located and life saving efforts were provided but Ritchey was then declared deceased.
