On Monday night, Port St. Lucie city leaders voted to distribute the funds via the tax roll from the $24 million dollars they received as part of a settlement with their former trash hauler—Waste Pro. They chose the tax roll option over sending out checks. This allows the city to distribute the funds directly to the properties and via an established system to do so. Council members also voted not to reimburse the city for prior emergency solid waste expenses in the general fund.
