Behind the scenes of Hong Kong’s IPO revival
The article was first published on HongKongEcho. A surge in IPOs and equity issuance in the first half of 2026 has reinforced Hong Kong’s appeal as an international financial centre. Some 85 companies completed new listings in the first half of this year, raising a total of US$26.9 billion – a 92% jump year on year and the best first half for five years. 1 This revival is no accident: behind the scenes, reforms and structural changes have built a strong foundation for continued success.
It’s Time to Choose the Future of Trade Finance
Can digitalisation and AI finally modernise trade finance, while maintaining the trust, security, and resilience upon which global trade depends? Christian Cazenove, Head of Group Trade Oversight & Advocacy, evaluates an industry at a pivotal moment. Globally, all trade finance participants today are at a crossroads and have a choice to make.
Author Correction: The kinase complex mTORC2 promotes the longevity of virus-specific memory CD4 + T cells by preventing ferroptosis
Correction to: Nature Immunology https://doi.org/10.1038/s41590-021-01090-1, published online 23 December 2021. In the version of this article initially published, in the Fig. 3a Source Data and associated figure panel, incorrect values for the p-MLKL/MLKL ratio were inadvertently pasted into the Source Data and presented in the figure; in the Source Data for Extended Data Fig.
Highly efficient air purification by a charge-induced liquid-lined filter
Abstract Air purification systems often face a difficult trade-off: achieving high pollutant removal efficiency usually comes at the expense of filter lifetime, energy use or maintenance cost. Here we introduce a charge-induced liquid-lined filter that overcomes these constraints through a three-stage absorption mechanism: long-range electrostatic attraction, rapid interfacial capture and high-capacity bulk-phase absorption.
BCAT2 links branched-chain amino acids metabolism to interferon signaling to sustain macrophage inflammation
Abstract The mechanisms sustaining chronic inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) remain incompletely understood. Here we show that branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) catabolism, mediated by the mitochondrial enzyme BCAT2, sustained interferon-driven macrophage activation in autoimmune arthritis.
Stenotrophomonas maltophilia alleviates Alzheimer’s disease model phenotype by inhibiting Aβ aggregation via autophagy
Abstract Probiotics exert neuroprotective effects against Alzheimer’s disease (AD) through modulation of gut-brain axis signaling pathways, yet disease-modifying therapies remain elusive. In this study, we demonstrate that Stenotrophomonas maltophilia (S. maltophilia) ameliorates AD-associated pathological and behavioral phenotypes in Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) models, including learning deficits and paralysis. Mechanistically, S.
Reframing the global case for Chinese EVs
Electric vehicles (EVs) are now the primary growth driver for China’s auto sector. Sales of battery EVs continued to power ahead in the first half of 2026, defying an overall weak domestic market. The most recent data showed EV sales rising 2% year on year in June, versus a decline of more than 33% year on year for sales of internal combustion engine models.
Why Equity Markets Are Reopening — But Only for the Prepared
In Conversation with Jeff Mortara, Global Co-Head of Equity Capital Markets and Head of TMT Investment Banking for the Americas. After several years of stop-start issuance, equity capital markets (ECM) are showing clearer signs of recovery. Yet the reopening is not indiscriminate. Investors remain selective, valuation discipline is back, and the most successful issuers are those who arrive with scale, a credible growth story and a clear understanding of where — and how — to access capital.
How institutional finance helps scale PBSA in France
Read the full article on The Class Foundation website. Societe Generale scales Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) financing in France, backing 30,000 beds as student housing becomes key social infrastructure. For years, Purpose-Built Student Accommodation in France was mostly viewed as a niche corner of the residential market, but that perception is rapidly shifting.
Geopolitics and AI demand a new industrial strategy
Global tensions and artificial intelligence are the forces of our age. Reindustrialisation must be the response. The future of the global economy is becoming ever more dependent on two powerful forces: geopolitics and artificial intelligence (AI). Geopolitical frictions – most recently the conflict in the Gulf, but before that the rewiring of the global trade and tariff landscape – are challenging the model of supply chains built for high efficiency, low latency and low redundancy.

Performance evaluation of biological safety cabinets: a real-world analysis
Abstract Introduction: Biological safety cabinets (BSCs) are essential for protecting personnel, samples, and the environment in clinical and research laboratories. Evidence on the real-world performance of Class II BSCs in China remains limited, particularly regarding differences between domestic and imported equipment. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional evaluation of 360 Class II BSCs in Beijing using 1,803 performance testing records from 2018 to 2023.
A DeepSeek-powered AI system for automated chest radiograph interpretation in clinical practice
Abstract A global shortage of radiologists has increased the burden of chest X-ray interpretation, particularly in primary and resource-limited settings. Although artificial intelligence systems can assist with report generation, most lack rigorous prospective validation in real clinical environments.
Hyperbilirubinemia After Redo Valve Surgery: Incidence, Risk Factors, and Early Clinical Outcomes
You are already at the latest version Background: Postoperative hyperbilirubinemia is a serious complication after cardiac surgery and has been associated with increased perioperative morbidity and mortality. However, data specifically addressing patients undergoing redo valve surgery remain limited. This study aimed to determine the incidence and risk factors of postoperative hyperbilirubinemia after redo valve surgery, and evaluate its association with early postoperative outcomes.
A decision-oriented framework for optimizing herbicide mixture ratios and dose bands under heterogeneous weed communities
1 INTRODUCTION Herbicide mixtures are widely used in post-emergence weed management to broaden control spectra, stabilize efficacy across species, and delay the evolution of herbicide resistance.

The Intersection of Gender and Migrant Status: Psychoactive Drug Use Among Young Chinese Female Migrants
ABSTRACT The number of rural-to-urban female migrants using psychoactive drugs has increased over the last two decades in China. However, research on this population remains scarce. Drawing on the literature on the gendered normalization of psychoactive drug use and social exclusion of migrants, this study examines how gender and migrant status interact to shape female migrants’ drug-use experiences and how they resist the stigma associated with their drug use.

From risk to opportunity: can climate risk promote green innovation in China’s A-share firms?
ABSTRACT Green innovation drives economic growth, facilitates the transition to sustainability, and strengthens enterprises against potential climate-related disruptions. However, the relationship between firm-level climate risks and corporate green innovation has been insufficiently explored. This study conducts a textual analysis of the annual reports and corporate social responsibility (CSR) reports of Chinese A-share listed firms to develop indicators for assessing firm-level climate risks.

The coupled vortex-droplet interaction process in an axial Lean Direction Injection (LDI) swirler was quantitatively investigated by Improved Delayed Detached Eddy Simulation (IDDES) together with Dynamic Zone Flamelet Model (DZFM). Reasonable agreements with the measurements were achieved for the frozen and combustion cases with mesh containing up to 60 million cells. The effect of recirculation zones, the combustion characteristics, and the evolution of kerosene droplets were analyzed.
Best of both worlds: How social ABS delivers low-cost financing and a positive impact
The article was first published on The Asset. Social securitisation is developing into an important technique that enables an economy’s strongest actors to help those in need of support. A lot of the work in capital markets and finance is about finding innovative ways to put something to better use. It might be a single asset, or a whole portfolio. There is also usually a need to keep at least two parties happy – lender and borrower, or issuer and investor.
