Population-level genomic analysis of immunoglobulin loci variation in rhesus macaques reveals extensive germline diversity
Keywords immunoglobulins rhesus macaque broadly neutralizing antibodies repertoire database genomics germline inference antibodies HIV B cell receptor Introduction The extraordinary diversity of B cell receptors (BCRs) underpins the adaptive immune system’s ability to recognize a vast range of foreign antigens and produce high-affinity, neutralizing antibodies.1 In mammals, BCRs are encoded by an extensive gene family that resides within three immunoglobulin (IG) loci: the heavy-chain locus...
Germline polymorphisms in the immunoglobulin kappa and lambda loci underpinning antibody light chain repertoire variability - Nature Communications
Abstract Variation in antibody (Ab) responses contributes to variable disease outcomes and therapeutic responsiveness, the determinants of which are incompletely understood. This study demonstrates that polymorphisms in immunoglobulin (IG) light chain loci dictate the composition of the Ab repertoire, establishing fundamental baseline differences that influence functional Ab-mediated responses.
The human immunoglobulin heavy chain constant gene locus is enriched for large complex structural variants and coding polymorphisms that vary in frequency among human populations

Abstract The human immunoglobulin heavy chain constant (IGHC) domain of antibodies (Ab) is responsible for effector functions critical to immunity. This domain is encoded by genes in the IGHC locus, where descriptions of genomic diversity remain incomplete. Here, we utilized long-read genomic datasets to build an IGHC haplotype/variant catalog from 105 individuals of diverse ancestry.

Germline polymorphism in the immunoglobulin kappa and lambda loci explain variation in the expressed light chain antibody repertoire

Abstract Variation in antibody (Ab) responses contributes to disease outcomes and therapeutic responsiveness, the determinants of which remain incompletely understood. This study demonstrates that polymorphisms in immunoglobulin kappa (IGK) and lambda (IGL) loci influence baseline differences in the Ab repertoire that preclude antigen-driven responses.

Complete sequencing of ape genomes - Nature
|
Abstract The most dynamic and repetitive regions of great ape genomes have traditionally been excluded from comparative studies1,2,3. Consequently, our understanding of the evolution of our species is incomplete. Here we present haplotype-resolved reference genomes and comparative analyses of six ape species: chimpanzee, bonobo, gorilla, Bornean orangutan, Sumatran orangutan and siamang.

Abstract The immunoglobulin heavy chain constant (IGHC) domain of antibodies (Ab) is responsible for a variety of effector functions critical to Ab mediated immunity. Resolving haplotype variation and complex genetic architecture in the human immunoglobulin kappa chain locus in individuals of diverse ancestry - Genes & Immunity
Abstract Immunoglobulins (IGs), critical components of the human immune system, are composed of heavy and light protein chains encoded at three genomic loci. The IG Kappa (IGK) chain locus consists of two large, inverted segmental duplications. The complexity of the IG loci has hindered use of standard high-throughput methods for characterizing genetic variation within these regions.

The Future of American Archaeology: Engage the Voting Public or Kiss Your Research Goodbye!
Publically-funded archaeological research, programs, and museums in the United States are under attack by the Administration, Congress, state legislatures, and local governments. We expect these attacks to continue and even increase in the future. In the past, a vigilant network of historic preservation and archaeological organizations has been able to thwart most of these attacks. The public, however, largely remains an untapped ally.
