Caspase-11-mediated non-canonical pyroptosis is a key mechanism of alveolar epithelial cell injury in LPS-induced ARDS
Abstract Alveolar epithelial cells (AECs) injury is a critical event in the pathogenesis of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS); however, the underlying mechanisms remain complex, and it is still unclear which cell death or inflammatory pathway predominates. In this study, we analyzed transcriptomic data from primary AECs in ARDS and compared the enrichment levels of six cell death pathways, and found that pyroptosis was the most significantly altered pathway.

Genome-wide assessment of rare protein-coding variants identifies associations with non-syndromic cleft lip/palate
Abstract Nonsyndromic cleft lip and palate (NSCLP) is a complex, multifactorial condition for which only about 25% of the genetic contribution has been identified. Although more than 60 genetic loci have been associated with NSCLP, a large portion of its heritability remains unexplained. Rare variants—often with stronger functional effects—are believed to account for some of this missing genetic risk.

Germline variants in cancer susceptibility genes among patients with mucosal melanoma
|
Abstract Mucosal melanoma (MM) is a rare and aggressive melanoma subtype with poor outcomes and poorly understood risk factors, including the contribution of germline pathogenic variants (PVs). In this study, 346 MM patients treated at MD Anderson Cancer Center underwent germline sequencing of 322 known cancer susceptibility genes, with PV frequencies compared to population controls (gnomAD and TOPMed) using Fisher’s exact test.

Early total triiodothyronine, illness severity, and in-hospital mortality in critically ill adults
Abstract Low T3 is common in critical illness, but whether it adds prognostic information beyond overall illness severity remains uncertain. We performed a retrospective cohort study of adults in the first ICU stay recorded in MIMIC-IV who underwent total triiodothyronine measurement within 48 h of ICU admission and had no documented thyroid disease. The primary outcome was in-hospital mortality. Of 201 included patients, 65 (32.3%) had low T3 (< 60 ng/dL).

Akkermansia muciniphila drives viscero-visceral crosstalk via 5-HT 3a R-mediated sensitization of dichotomizing gut–bladder neurons
Abstract The comorbidity of overactive bladder (OAB) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) presents a major clinical challenge, with the underlying neural and microbial mechanisms of the gut–bladder axis poorly understood. Here we aimed to delineate the complete causal pathway from a specific gut microorganism to bladder dysfunction and validate it as a therapeutic target.

Study on real-time adaptive optimization of energy dissipation in train collision
Abstract Train operation safety has gained significant attention in recent years. Due to the large mass and high operation velocity, train collision accidents often result in catastrophic damage. Current train crashworthiness design focuses on fixed impact velocity by unchangeable energy absorption structures.

Enhancing recombinant protein production through Cre-loxP mediated chromosomal rearrangement evolution in Kluyveromyces marxianus - Communications Biology
Abstract Chromosomal rearrangements can drive adaptive evolution; however, whether the rearrangements in non-coding and non-promoter regions can lead to new phenotypes under selective pressures remains unclear. Additionally, highly producing recombinant proteins is a key industrial task but poses stress on host cells. Therefore, it is desirable to investigate the role of chromosomal rearrangement in non-coding and non-promoter regions during high-yield recombinant protein phenotype formation.
Pharmacologic degradation of WDR5 suppresses oncogenic activities of SS18::SSX and provides a therapeutic of synovial sarcoma
Abstract Cancer-causing aberrations recurrently target the chromatic-regulatory factors, leading to epigenetic dysregulation. Almost all patients with synovial sarcoma (SS) carry a characteristic gene fusion, SS18::SSX, which produces a disease-specific oncoprotein that is incorporated into the switch/sucrose non-fermentable (SWI/SNF) chromatin-remodeling complexes and profoundly alters their functionalities. Targeting epigenetic dependency in cancers holds promise for improving current treatment.
Non-contact all-optic OCT-PAM imaging with shared detection light
We proposed a non-contact all-optic OCT–PAM dual-modal system based on a single detection light source. A homodyne low-coherence interferometer was adopted to detect the vibration induced by photoacoustic excitation. The optical coherence tomography (OCT) and photoacoustic microscopy (PAM) shared the same broadband light source for signal detection, thus simplifying the dual-modal system and making it compact.
A Whole-Exome Case-Control Association Study To Characterize the Contribution of Rare Coding Variation to Pancreatic Cancer Risk
Abstract Pancreatic cancer is a deadly disease that accounts for approximately 5% of cancer deaths worldwide, with a dismal 5-year survival rate of 10%. Known genetic risk factors explain only a modest proportion of the heritable risk of pancreatic cancer. We conducted a whole-exome case-control sequencing study in 1,591 pancreatic cancer cases and 2,134 cancer-free controls of European ancestry. In our gene-based analysis, ATM ranked first, with a genome-wide significant p value of 1 × 10-8.

Five-body $D\ensuremath{\rightarrow}V$ semileptonic decays
Our main objective is to derive the decay rate for the semileptonic decays D→Vℓ+νℓ(ℓ=e,μ), where V represents a vector particle. In these decays, the vector particle V decays into three pseudoscalar particles. To accomplish this, we evaluate the phase-space factor for the five-body decay with a set of eight independent variables which uniquely define a point in the phase space.
