Intraoperative intra-aneurysmal pressure monitoring to individualize flow diverter therapy and optimize coil use in unruptured intracranial aneurysms
Abstract This study investigates the clinical value of using flow diverter (FD) to treat patients with unruptured intracranial aneurysms (UIAs), specifically examining changes in aneurysm sac pressure and hemodynamics before and after intraoperative FD deployment to guide the need for additional coil embolization. The aim is to explore whether FD deployment sufficiently reduces aneurysm pressure, thereby minimizing or eliminating the need for coils.

Large-scale esophageal cancer screening through noncontrast computed tomography and artificial intelligence
|
Abstract The absence of accurate, noninvasive, scalable screening tools keeps early esophageal cancer (EC) detection a global health challenge. Although noncontrast computed tomography (NC CT) is widely accessible, the esophagus is a hollow tubular structure prone to collapse and motion artifacts, making small early malignant lesions difficult to distinguish from normal tissue.

Closely related ST11 Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates with transient attenuation and re-emergence of carbapenem resistance during prolonged hospitalization: a case report
Abstract Background: Apparent transitions in carbapenem susceptibility among sequential Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates are often interpreted as strain replacement. However, phenotypic variation among closely related isolates may also produce similar phenotypic shifts, particularly in heavily treated patients.
Circular RNAs in tumor immunity and immunotherapy of breast cancer
Abstract As the stable and conserved circular non-coding RNAs, circular RNAs (circRNAs) have assumed growing significance in regulating breast cancer immunity and immunotherapy. This review focuses on elucidating the molecular mechanisms through which circRNAs influence the efficacy of breast cancer immunotherapy. Specifically, circRNAs modulate the levels and stability of critical immune checkpoints, including PD-L1 and various cytokines.
Generation of eight-cell embryo-like cells from human pluripotent stem cells
Abstract Mammalian embryonic development is a highly orchestrated process initiated by the fusion of the oocyte with sperm to generate the zygote. In humans, the zygote remains transcriptionally quiescent until the major wave of zygotic genome activation (ZGA) occurs around the eight-cell (8C) stage (day 3 after fertilization). These cells and the derived morula cells are totipotent: they have the capacity to form a whole individual.
An epitranscriptomic-metabolic axis from YTHDF1 to SQLE drives breast cancer stemness
Abstract The metabolic plasticity of breast cancer stem cells (BCSCs) drives tumor propagation and therapeutic resistance, yet the molecular circuits governing these states remain incompletely understood. Here, we identify a pivotal epitranscriptomic-metabolic axis implicated in BCSCs maintenance. The N6-methyladenosine (m6A) reader YTHDF1 post-transcriptionally controls squalene epoxidase (SQLE), a rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis.
A five-phase evaluation framework for diagnostic and predictive medical artificial intelligence
Abstract Artificial intelligence (AI) has advanced rapidly across diagnostic, prognostic, and clinical decision-support applications, yet the pathway from laboratory performance to demonstrable clinical benefit remains fragmented and inconsistently defined. Existing evaluations rely heavily on retrospective testing and algorithm-centric metrics, while current guidelines emphasize reporting standards rather than specifying validation across stages of model maturity.
Association between extreme heat exposure and risk of preterm birth and its effect modifiers: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Abstract Extreme heat is an intensifying environmental stressor, with pregnant women identified as a highly vulnerable population. Although prior researches have examined heat exposure and preterm birth (PTB), inconsistencies in heat definitions and limited evaluation of effect modifiers hinder clear interpretation. To systematically evaluate the association between extreme heat exposure (including temperature percentiles and heatwaves) and PTB risk.

Integrated proteomics and metabolomics reveal how functional protein supplementation enhances salt tolerance in Zygosaccharomyces rouxii
Abstract Zygosaccharomyces rouxii is a halotolerant yeast widely associated with traditional high-salt food fermentations, while also being recognized as a spoilage microorganism in some food systems. Although its performance in fermented foods is strongly influenced by high salinity, the mechanisms by which nutritional inputs improve halotolerance remain unclear. Using DIA proteomics and UPLC-Orbitrap metabolomics, we evaluated Z.
SRSF2 mutations contribute to bone marrow immune microenvironment alterations
Abstract Somatic SRSF2 mutations are early lesions in myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML), yet how they contribute disease remain unclear. In this study, we generated two murine models that have not yet developed overt MDS/CMML-like phenotypes: (i) a cell-derived xenograft (CDX) by tail-vein injection of stable BA/F3-KRASG12C-SRSF2P95H cells and (ii) a Vav1-Cre conditional knock-in mouse heterozygous for Srsf2P95H.
Candidate proteomic indirect-effect signals linking dementia to probable muscle-bone fragility: a UK Biobank cohort study
Abstract Background: The systemic impact of dementia on musculoskeletal health remains poorly characterized. We investigated associations of algorithmically ascertained dementia status with bone fragility, functional trajectories, and low grip strength-defined probable sarcopenia, and explored candidate circulating proteomic indirect-effect signals for these associations.
An explainable generative AI system for video-to-report generation in capsule endoscopy
Abstract Gastrointestinal (GI) diseases remain a significant global health burden due to elevated morbidity and mortality. Accurate and timely diagnosis, especially for small-bowel conditions, remains challenging because capsule endoscopy (CE) videos last 6–12 hours and require prolonged manual review. While artificial intelligence has advanced CE analysis, integrated video-to-report generation remains largely unexplored.
Radiotherapy-induced type I interferon signaling promotes CD8⁺ T cell exhaustion that guide ICI combination therapy in HNSCC
Abstract Radiotherapy (RT) remains a cornerstone treatment for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). However, the immunological consequences of RT, particularly in the context of immunotherapy, are not fully understood. Using flow cytometry and single-cell RNA sequencing, we comprehensively characterized the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) in murine HNSCC models following RT.

Clinical utility of combined serum IL-6, PCT, and SAA assays for early diagnosis and severity stratification of neonatal sepsis
Abstract Aim: Neonatal sepsis continues to be a leading cause of death and disability in newborns worldwide. Early identification is difficult due to vague and overlapping clinical signs. Reliance on a single biomarker often yields suboptimal sensitivity or specificity. This study aimed to assess the added clinical value of combining serum interleukin-6 (IL-6), procalcitonin (PCT), and serum amyloid A (SAA) for the early recognition and severity grading of neonatal sepsis.
Earthquake doublets in subduction zones are an Omori process promoted by megathrust tear fault interaction
Abstract Earthquake doublets—nearby events of similar size striking within a short period—have been a seismological puzzle for 50 years. Is the second event simply an unusually large aftershock, or do doublets arise from a distinct mechanism? If all subduction zones exhibit the same percentage of doublets, that would support the first view. But if some trenches generate many more than others, that would support the second.
From Exposure to Value: A New Diagnostic for the Agentic Era
The Question Has Changed The question has changed. In 2024, organizations asked whether AI could handle a given task. In 2026, the answer is almost always yes. The real question is why so few are converting that capability into measurable business value, and Sia's updated AI OrgReview sets out to answer it. Seventy-one percent of large organizations now use generative AI in at least one function, yet more than 80% report no tangible EBIT impact and only 21% have redesigned a single workflow.

LSM7 coordinates scaRNA-mediated snRNA modification to ensure spliceosome fidelity and spermatogonial stem cell differentiation
Abstract Spermatogenesis requires precise spatial and temporal regulation of RNA splicing, orchestrated by both the major (U1, U2, and U4/U6/U5) and minor (U11, U12, and U4atac/U6atac/U5) spliceosomal small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs), yet their function during germ cell development remain poorly defined. Here, we elucidate the essential function of LSM7, a component of the LSM2-8 complex, in snRNP biogenesis and the process of spermatogenesis.
Organocatalytic atom transfer radical polymerization with light and pH dual-gated regulation
Abstract To improve the control and precision in polymer synthesis, the development of polymerization with logical control by multiple stimuli has attracted considerable attention in recent years. Herein, we describe the introduction of a dual regulation by light and pH to organocatalytic atom transfer radical polymerization (O-ATRP), which features mild pH conditions, visible light irradiation, transition metal-free products, and excellent on/off control by both pH and light.
Cross-species insights into placental evolution and diseases at the single-cell resolution
Abstract The placenta is essential for fetal development, yet its molecular evolution across mammals remains elusive. Here, we present a comprehensive single-cell transcriptomic atlas of ~300,000 cells from ten species representing the four primary placental types: discoid, cotyledonary, diffuse, and zonary. Our cross-species analysis identifies trophoblast lineages as the primary drivers of placental diversification.

Two-dimensional crystals catalyse hydrogen into protons
Abstract Two-dimensional (2D) crystals with atomic-level thickness dramatically shorten the gas transport pathways, rendering it exceptionally promising for separation membrane applications. While defect-free 2D crystals such as graphene have long been considered impermeable to all gases, recent studies show that pristine monolayer graphene permits room-temperature hydrogen permeation. However, the identity of the permeating species and its generalizability to other 2D materials remain unclear.

Studies on grandparental mediation often leveraged frameworks of parental mediation strategies. However, grandparents’ mediation approaches may differ due to the variation in technology acceptance.
Sex- and age-dependent associations between waist-to-hip ratio and cognitive impairment: a cross-sectional study of rural adults aged 40 years and older in northwestern China
Abstract Background: Obesity is a modifiable risk factor for cognitive impairment; however, body mass index fails to capture fat distribution. Waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), reflecting central adiposity, may better characterize obesity-related differences in cognitive impairment. Nevertheless, whether the association between WHR and cognitive impairment varies by sex and age remains unclear. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 1,792 adults aged ≥40 years from rural China.
