LINCOLNTON, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - For one week every summer, Kensley Woodberry gets to be a kid at camp. She has a rare autoimmune disease that causes inflammation of the skin and muscles, but she has attended Camp Joint Venture for three years. Camp Joint Venture is designed for children with rheumatic diseases — conditions that attack joints, muscles and bones. The camp is held in partnership with the YMCA’s Camp Lakeside in Lincolnton, which provides staff to help run the program.

Finding Solutions: Augusta chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace builds beds for local children

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A newly formed local chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace held its first bed build this past weekend, with volunteers sanding, drilling, and assembling bed frames for children in the Augusta area who do not have beds. Richard Forzano founded the Augusta chapter after learning the nearest existing chapter was two hours away. He said the need in the area is significant.

Augusta/CSRA Habitat marks 88th home with Macon Avenue groundbreaking

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Augusta/CSRA Habitat for Humanity broke ground on its 88th home Friday at 608 Macon Ave. in Augusta, officials said. The ceremony marked the start of a new build as well as the organization’s push into its next fiscal year. As it prepared to enter fiscal 2026-27 on July 1, Habitat set a goal of building five homes from July 1 through Dec. 31, 2026, to help more local families secure affordable homeownership.
