Saxiphilin functions as a toxin sponge protein that counteracts the effects of saxitoxin poisoning
Abstract Saxitoxin (STX) is among the most potent toxins known, is classified as a chemical weapon, and is the archetype of the paralytic shellfish toxin (PST) family produced by marine and freshwater harmful algal blooms (HAB). STX causes paralysis and death through inhibition of voltage-gated sodium channels (NaVs), has no antidote, and poses a public health and commercial fishing threat due to its accumulation in seafood and increasing HAB occurrences.

Regulation of H + transfer pathways promotes C-C coupling in acidic CO 2 electroreduction
Abstract Electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction in acidic media is fundamentally limited by competitive hydrogen evolution and poor selectivity toward multi-carbon products. Here we report a cooperative catalytic strategy that enables highly selective multi-carbon formation under strongly acidic conditions by regulating proton activation and interfacial solvation.

Deciphering quorum sensing and quorum quenching regulatory mechanisms in anaerobic digesters: Signaling networks, environmental responses, and microbial ecological functions
Abstract Microbially driven anaerobic digestion (AD) is a key technology for energy recovery from biowaste. As critical regulators of microbial communication, quorum sensing (QS) and quorum quenching (QQ) impact AD by shaping microbial community structure and coordinating trophic-level metabolic interactions. However, their underlying mechanisms remain a “black box”, posing a significant barrier to process optimization and engineered control.

GeoFactory: an LLM performance enhancement framework for geoscience factual and inferential tasks
ABSTRACT Large Language Models (LLMs) have demonstrated a remarkable capacity to efficiently learn, comprehend, and process extensive datasets and academic literature, leading to their widespread application across a variety of disciplines. However, the adoption of LLMs in geoscience remains constrained by several inherent limitations, including a lack of geoscience knowledge, difficulties in updating information, insufficient autonomy, high operational costs, and low efficiency.
High corrosion resistance and electromagnetic shielding properties of Ni–P@Cf paper by a chemical plating process Recently, paper-based materials have garnered attention for their potential as lightweight and thin electromagnetic wave-absorbing materials. Structural basis for saxitoxin congener binding and neutralization by anuran saxiphilins - Nature Communications
|
Abstract Dinoflagellates and cyanobacteria produce saxitoxin (STX) and ~50 congeners that disrupt bioelectrical signals by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels (NaVs). Consuming seafood carrying these toxins causes paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP). Although NaVs and anuran STX binding proteins (saxiphilins, Sxphs) use convergent STX binding modes, the structural basis for STX congener recognition is unknown.

Co-expression of multi-genes for polynary perovskite electrocatalysts for reversible solid oxide cells - Nature Communications
|
Abstract High-entropy LnBaCo2O5+δ perovskites are explored as rSOC air electrodes, though high configuration entropy (Sconfig) alone poorly correlates with performance due to multifactorial interactions. We systematically engineer LnBaCo2O5+δ perovskites (Ln = lanthanides) with tunable Sconfig and 20 consistent parameters, employing Bayesian-optimized symbolic regression to decode activity descriptors.

Interpretable Machine Learning for Thermospheric Mass Density Modeling Using GRACE/GRACE‐FO Satellite Data
1 Introduction Thermospheric mass density (TMD) is an important parameter in the Earth's thermosphere that causes atmospheric drag on the low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. Atmospheric drag, as a typical non-conservative force, can lead to the decay of satellite orbits and increase the risk of collisions during extreme space weather conditions (e.g., Dang et al., 2022; Zhang et al., 2022). Therefore, predicting the TMD is crucial for practical operation of satellite missions.

Structural basis for saxitoxin congener binding and neutralization by anuran saxiphilins
Abstract Dinoflagellates and cyanobacteria in harmful 'red tide' algal blooms produce saxitoxin (STX) and ~50 congeners that block voltage gated sodium channel (NaV) function and disrupt bioelectrical signals1-4. Consuming seafood carrying these lethal toxins causes paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP), a growing public health hazard due to climate change5-7 that motivates efforts to detect these toxins and counteract their noxious effects.

Dual Single-Atom Sites Coupled with Graphene-Encapsulated Core-Shell Fe-Cu Nanoalloy for Boosting Oxygen Reduction Reaction
Dual Single-Atom Sites Coupled with Graphene-Encapsulated Core-Shell Fe-Cu Nanoalloy for Boosting Oxygen Reduction Reaction Replacing platinum-based electrocatalysts with iron single-atom catalysts (Fe-N4-C) for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) remains challenging due to the symmetric electronic structure of atomically dispersed Fe-N4 sites and sluggish kinetics.
An Ensemble Spectral Prediction (ESP) model for metabolite annotation
A key challenge in metabolomics is annotating measured spectra from a biological sample with chemical identities. Currently, only a small fraction of measurements can be assigned identities. Two complementary computational approaches have emerged to address the annotation problem: Mapping candidate molecules to spectra, and mapping query spectra to molecular candidates. In essence, the candidate molecule with the spectrum that best explains the query spectrum is recommended as the target molecule.

A peptide targeting outer membrane protein A of Acinetobacter baumannii exhibits antibacterial activity by reducing bacterial pathogenicity
Abstract The World Health Organization has classified multidrug-resistant (MDR) Acinetobacter baumannii as a significant threat to human health, necessitating the urgent discovery of new antibacterial drugs to combat bacterial resistance. Outer membrane protein A of A. baumannii (AbOmpA) is an outer membrane-anchored β?barrel-shaped pore protein that plays a critical role in bacterial adhesion, invasion, and biofilm formation. Therefore, AbOmpA is considered a key virulence factor of A. baumannii.

Storm‐Time Characteristics of Ionospheric Model (MSAP) Based on Multi‐Algorithm Fusion
1 Introduction The ionosphere is one of the most important space regions for human activity, which can significantly influence short-wave related high-technology systems. Total electron content (TEC) is an important parameter to describe ionospheric behavior, thus its prediction is vital for the short-wave communication. However, the ionosphere is prone to disturbances during geomagnetic storm events.
