LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A Louisville man accused in a violent kidnapping and armed robbery will be moving on to trial, following a few months of court-ordered psychiatric treatment. Prosecutors accuse Armond Langford of using a knife to force a St. Matthews mother with her kids in the car to drive to a nearby bank. Police say Langford then robbed the bank and ran away, but officers caught him hours later. In court Thursday, a hearing on Langford’s competency wrapped up in just five minutes.

Family demands independent investigation into 2023 Bullitt County fatal house fire

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - In Bullitt County, dozens packed onto the courthouse lawn and spilled into the street, as families of the victims of a 2023 deadly house fire demanded an independent investigation into the case. The fire burned a Lebanon Junction house to the ground, killing 6-year-olds Raegan Maraman and Haisley Heath, along with Heath’s mother, 27-year-old Eryn Toogood and her unborn child. The only survivor was Toogood’s boyfriend and Raegan’s father, Billy Maraman.

‘It’s shocking’: Two teens, woman arrested in Eminence shooting

EMINENCE, Ky. (WAVE) - An Eminence family is traumatized after becoming the target of a shooting on July 11, where bullets narrowly missed hitting their two-year-old son. On July 11, Kenya Vargas, her fiancé, toddler and her sister were all leaving an Eminence Cruise event. They were driving down East Broadway when Vargas’ sister spotted someone on the walking trail parallel to the road aiming a gun right at their truck. They had no time to react before the shooter fired off five rounds.
