AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A local flag football team is heading to the national stage after qualifying for the NFL Flag Football National Championship later this month. East Georgia Blitz’s 12U boys team won a regional tournament in Dothan, Alabama, earning one of 32 spots in the country for their age group at the national tournament. The event is scheduled for July 23-26 in Westfield, Indiana, just outside of Indianapolis.

North Augusta QB Colson Brown joins Clemson as walk-on transfer

CLEMSON, S.C. — North Augusta native Colson Brown has joined the Clemson football program as a walk-on transfer, moving the former Yellowjacket quarterback closer to home. Brown is one of five walk-on transfers listed on Clemson’s updated roster. Despite his walk-on status, he counts toward the Tigers’ 105-man roster limit. In his final season with North Augusta, Brown logged 991 passing yards, averaging 123.9 per game. He threw for 7 touchdowns, picking up two on the ground.
