GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - A Greenville mother has been cited after police said her 5-year-old child was found wandering near a street late at night without shoes or pants. A video viewed hundreds of thousands of times on Facebook shows the moment Antwain Daniels found the boy near East Fire Tower Road. “It was something like a movie,” Daniels said. “I’ve seen nothing like that in reality.” Daniels said the encounter happened around 10 p.m. Monday as he was on his way to a nearby gas station.

‘We are all mourning’: Friends remember Belhaven homicide victim as investigation continues

BELHAVEN, N.C. (WITN) - Friends of a man killed in a Belhaven shooting just over a week ago say they are heartbroken and hope justice is served soon for whom they call a light in the community. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and Belhaven police are investigating the homicide. “He’s like a sunshine in every room he’s in. He made you feel wanted; he let you know you’re needed, and he was constantly there for you,” said Ava Paul, a friend of the victim.

BERTIE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Congressman Don Davis visited Bertie County to speak with nonprofits, farmers, and others in the area. Davis said the trip was about learning from the community what issues they are facing so that change can be made. He started the morning getting a tour of the Lewiston-Woodville Education Vitality Center. The center is a public-private partnership with the town, Perdue, and Bertie County Schools that provides student services and mental health services to kids in need.
