MEMPHIS, Tenn. — For Ellen Bursi, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has never been just a workplace. “St. Jude has always been a place for me that has been home in a roundabout way,” Bursi said. As a speech language pathologist at St. Jude, Bursi works with children who have communication disorders. Her connection to the hospital runs deeper than her career — when she was a child, her cousin was diagnosed with medulloblastoma as a teen.

Markey Cancer Center survivorship celebration brings together survivors, caregivers and community partners

(WKYT) - A recent survivorship celebration at Markey Cancer Center brought together cancer survivors, caregivers and community partners as part of National Cancer Survivors Month, which honors nearly 20 million cancer survivors across the country. Steve Swift, a central Kentucky cancer survivor, said he was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2005 and has been living with the disease ever since.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Tickets are on sale now for a chance to win the 2026 St. Jude Dream Home in Lexington. Earlier this year WKYT’s Amber Philpott traveled to Memphis to talk with St. Jude parents and staff. One mother WKYT met said her daughter is “living her best life” because of the care she received at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Darnita, a St. Jude mom of patient Elani said she knew about St. Jude but did not realize the hospital’s “groundbreaking work” with sickle cell disease.
