Springfield Police, Fire and EMS respond to incident in a Mercy Hospital parking garage Thursday morning

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Just before 5:00 Thursday morning, Springfield police, fire and Mercy EMS responded to an incident at a parking garage on the east side of the Mercy campus. There was an ambulance blocking the entrance of the garage on Rogers Ave., just off of Sunshine St., from 5 to 5:30 a.m. After that, the garage was blocked off with caution tape and a Mercy public safety vehicle.

New food pantry opens in Reeds Spring to offer more choices to people in need

REEDS SPRING, Mo. (KY3) - An organization that has been operating mobile food pantries in Stone County is opening up a permanent location in Reeds Spring. Christian Action Ministries have been serving Taney County since 1984, and in recent years, it expanded its reach to Stone County through those mobile food pantries. At noon on July 1, CAM will cut the ribbon on a permanent pantry location in Stone County. CAM operates its pantries on a client-choice model.

SGF Yields program targets a new group during yield checks to keep pedestrians safe

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - SGF Yields has been checking to make sure drivers are stopping for pedestrians through yield checks, but now, they’re cracking down on a new group. When the program started in 2017, 25% of drivers were yielding. In 2026, those numbers usually sit between 50% to 60%. Sometimes, social pressures and general road safety are the reasons why the numbers aren’t higher. “We see that a lot in studies,” said Springfield traffic safety specialist Mandy Buettgen-Quinn.
