(Valley News Live) - Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner is running uncontested in the upcoming general election, but the numbers coming out of his office paint a picture of a department under increasing strain, and one that says it is fighting back. Jahner, who was first elected in 2019 and has worked for the Cass County Sheriff’s Office since 1998, leads a department of approximately 260 employees overseeing patrol, investigations, drug enforcement, and the Cass County Jail.

HAMBERG, N.D. (Valley News Live) - A semi-truck was struck by a freight train at a rural railroad crossing near Hamberg Thursday, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol. Troopers responded to the crash after a westbound freight train hit the semi as it attempted to cross the tracks. No injuries were reported.
