Astronomical summer doesn't start for almost another 2 weeks, but with a fairly strong ridge of High Pressure overhead for the majority of this week, it's certainly felt like summer with high temperatures trending slightly above normal under mainly sunny skies and occasional gusty southerly winds.

Historic March heat wave expected across West Central Texas

West Central Texas should prepare for an unusual and potentially record-breaking stretch of heat, with temperatures to soar well above seasonal norms over the coming days. Abilene and San Angelo could approach or reach 100 degrees between Saturday, March 21, and Sunday, March 22. If that happens, it would mark the first time on record that either city has hit triple digits during the month of March.
