HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - Researchers at UConn Health are conducting a study on whether adding a second medication to standard thyroid treatment can improve quality of life for people living with hypothyroidism. An estimated 10% of adults have hypothyroidism, a condition more common in women. Doctors say the thyroid helps regulate metabolism and impacts energy, bone function, and heart function. Symptoms can include thinning hair, trouble losing weight, and fatigue.
