FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. (WVVA) - A Fayette County woman is in jail and facing a felony drug charge after a traffic stop. Jeanie Gail Fleshman, 50, of Minden was arrested on July 3 and charged with possession with intent to deliver and reckless driving. According to the criminal complaint, two patrolmen with the Fayetteville Police Department saw a U-Haul box truck swerving across double lines on Beckwith Road and initiated a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Fleshman.

Matthew Rupert Martin, 41, is charged with felony hit and run resulting in serious bodily injury, felony person prohibited from possessing firearms, and misdemeanor charges of brandishing a deadly weapon, petit larceny, and receiving or transferring stolen goods.

Richlands police chief resigns

RICHLANDS, Va. (WVVA) - Richlands Police Chief Ron Holt II has resigned, effective at the end of July. Holt took over the reins of the department in November 2022 and also served briefly in the role of Richlands Town Manager. In his letter of resignation, Holt said serving as police chief has been a privilege and he leaves a department that is now accredited and solid, recognized as a model of law enforcement excellence across the commonwealth.
