CAMERON, La. (KPLC) - Cleanup crews have finished work on an area of oil found on the beach off La. 82 in Cameron Parish. U.S. Coast Guard Sector Houston/Galveston response teams recently recovered about 40 bags of heavily weathered tar balls and tar patties from the shoreline, according to Petty Officer 3rd Class Breanna Daniel. Daniel says that at this time, cleanup operations have been completed.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A Lake Charles man reported missing has not been seen in four days, authorities say. Photo of Jermaric Andrus, who went missing on July 7th. Jermaric Andrus, 27, was last seen by family around 10 p.m. on July 6, according to a flier made by family members. That flier also says that he was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and black pants.

$300K donation kicks off opening of Jeff Davis Animal Shelter as parish heads to November vote

JENNINGS, La. (KPLC) - A $300,000 private donation from William “Dub” Henning of Oak Crossing will fund the opening of the Jeff Davis Parish Animal Shelter, a facility built through the American Rescue Plan at no direct cost to local taxpayers. Police Jury President Butch LaFarge said the opportunity to build the shelter came through a federal grant, and the decision to take it was an easy one. “It’s like Christmas,” LaFarge said.
