COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado Springs Police Department's mobile speed cameras have issued more than 10,000 total violations since launching in January, and the cameras are not slowing down for summer. The department deployed 2 mobile speed cameras earlier this year to crack down on speeding in school zones, parks and neighborhoods. Drivers caught going 11 miles per hour or more over the speed limit received a ticket. Residents say speeding has been a persistent problem across the city.

Free lunches and books available to Colorado Springs children this summer at Pikes Peak Library District

COLORADO SPRINGS — With school out for summer, the Pikes Peak Library District is providing free books and meals to students. Children 18 and younger in Colorado Springs can get a free lunch this summer at East Library and other locations across the city. School District 11 is bringing its mobile meal unit to East Library, offering no-cost lunches every weekday through July. Sandwiches, vegetables and other snacks are packed into bagged lunches for students to enjoy.

Lynn Ruck of Rainwater Solutions Inc says homeowners should either store or divert rainwater off their property. "People are so surprised with how much water would come off their roof," Ruck said. Ruck said the key question every homeowner should ask is how to manage that rainwater.
