'Panic and chaos' at Jennings beach lead Fairfield Police to cancel carnival

The Fairfield Police Department canceled the remainder of the three-day McKinley Elementary School Carnival Friday night following "panic, chaos and crowd surges" driven by false reports of gunfire, officials said. The incident involving large groups of unsupervised juveniles led to multiple fights and the separation of families before the event was officially shut down, police said. The decision was made "with the full support of the McKinley PTA," police said.

DARIEN, Conn. (NEWS 12 CONNECTICUT) – A father in Connecticut was ready to fulfill his civic duty when a jury summons arrived. Then he realized it was not addressed to him but to his 4-year-old daughter. When Dr. Omar Ibrahimi opened the letter from the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch, he saw it was for his daughter Zara, who is just learning to read. “We told her, we said, ‘Zara, you got called for jury duty,’ then she looked over and said, ‘I’m just a baby,’” Ibrahimi said.
