SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Two brothers are spending their summer afternoons washing cars at Turbo Car Wash on Jewella and Baxter, looking to earn money before the school year begins. Quen’Travion and D’Terrian Taylor, rising 9th and 6th graders, began washing cars to buy things for themselves without relying on their mother. “I like to keep money in my pocket, I do not like not having money,” Quen’Travion said.

Researcher at LSU Health Shreveport awarded grant to predict and prevent heat illness in student-athletes

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - A researcher at LSU Health Shreveport has been awarded a grant of just over $200,000 to study how to predict and prevent heat illness in student-athletes. Dr. Cory Coehoorn, associate professor of rehabilitation science and family medicine at LSUHS, has been awarded a Collaboration in Action Program (CAP) grant in the amount of $210,022 to lead a study on heat illness in high school football players.

Shreveport woman sues city, former officer over child neglect arrest

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - A Shreveport woman is suing the city, a former police officer, and two companies tied to Village Square Apartments after she was arrested on child neglect charges that were later dropped. Calvinitri White was arrested in July following a domestic call. Police said the complaint came from the father of the children. The neglect charge was dropped after White provided proof she had reported pest problems to the apartment complex and nothing was fixed.
