Pan-retinal pathology detection in oct scans integrating natural language synthesis with diagnostic annotation
|
Abstract While OCT is pivotal for macular disease diagnosis, its adoption in primary care is limited by AI systems that cannot simultaneously analyze multi-sectional scans across the full spectrum of maculopathies or generate diagnostically integrated reports. Here we present iOCT, an intelligent OCT analysis system that integrates a multi-level annotation framework with data distillation to enable automated multi-sectional scan analysis and comprehensive natural language report generation.

Design: Single-center retrospective cohort study.
Chain mediating effect of somatic pain and sleep duration between chronic disease count and depressive symptoms in older adults
Abstract Background: Population aging has intensified concerns regarding mental health in older adults. Multimorbidity is highly prevalent in late life and is strongly associated with both somatic pain and depressive symptoms. Somatic pain and abnormal sleep duration are common in older adults and may mediate the relationship between chronic disease burden and depression.

How PLGA Microspheres are Emerging as a Key Drug Delivery System
Abstract Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) microspheres are a clinically established platform for sustained and controlled drug delivery, offering tunable degradation and reduced dosing frequency. This review critically appraises PLGA microsphere technology, linking materials science with clinical translation. We examine how molecular parameters—molecular weight, lactide-to-glycolide ratio, and terminal group chemistry—affect degradation and release kinetics.
Agreement and Accuracy of a Commercial Pulse Oximeter Compared with Arterial Oxygen Saturation During Controlled Hypoxemia in Healthy Volunteers
Introduction Pulse oxygen saturation (SpO2) monitoring is non-invasive, continuous, real-time, and easy to perform, and is widely used in anesthesia, emergency medicine, intensive care, perioperative monitoring, chronic respiratory disease management, and monitoring in hypoxemic environments.1 SpO2 is essentially a non-invasive estimate of arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2), and its clinical value depends on its accuracy and stability across different oxygen saturation ranges.

The pentacyclic products bearing four consecutive stereocenters, including two quaternary carbon stereocenters fused in one ring structure, were smoothly acquired in moderate to high yields (22-98%) with high regio- (α and exo type) and diastereoselectivities (>20:1 dr).
RVO-ME: A Dual-Task OCT Dataset for Segmentation and Detection of Macular Lesions in Retinal Vein Occlusion - Scientific Data
Abstract Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is one of the most common vision-threatening retinal diseases, with macular edema (ME) as its primary complication. Optical coherence tomography (OCT), a non-invasive imaging modality, enables detailed visualization of retinal structures and fluid distribution, thus supporting accurate diagnosis, treatment monitoring, and clinical assessment of RVO-related conditions.
Spatial profiling of human pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals molecular alterations associated with venous invasion
Editor’s summary Venous invasion (VI) is an initiatory step for metastasis in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Because so little is known about the mechanisms underlying VI and why it is associated with poor survival, Bell et al. performed spatial transcriptomics and proteomics on two independent sets of human PDAC tissues from treatment-naïve patients. They found that VI was associated with changes in gene expression that were also correlated with VI morphology characteristics.
CAR T cell-mediated bone marrow inflammation causes hematotoxicity and favors clonal hematopoiesis
Editor’s summary Hematotoxicity is a complication of CAR T cell therapy in which patients who receive CAR T cells have a decrease in the cells of the bone marrow and blood or cytopenia, which negatively influences patient outcomes. Ben Khelil et al. used a mouse B cell lymphoma model to investigate the mechanisms underlying hematotoxicity after CAR T cell therapy and found that CAR T cells were required for hematotoxocity.

Here, Ma et al. have identified a deubiquitinating enzyme (DUB), USP5, as being able to stabilize the fusion protein created by this translocation.
Disturbed engram network caused by NPTX downregulation underlies aging-related contextual fear memory deficits - Cell Research
Abstract Engram cells storing episodic memories are allocated to separate neuronal ensembles. However, how these ensembles maintain their stability to drive precise memory expression, and whether their destabilization contributes to aging-related memory deficits, remain elusive. Here, we show that during contextual fear memory consolidation, neuronal pentraxin 1 (NPTX1) in Fos transcription-dependent ensemble (F-RAM) of the dentate gyrus (DG) promotes memory expression in the fear context.

An engineering-reinforced extracellular vesicle-integrated hydrogel with an ROS-responsive release pattern mitigates spinal cord injury
Abstract The local delivery of mesenchymal stem cell–derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) via hydrogel has emerged as an effective approach for spinal cord injury (SCI) treatment. However, achieving on-demand release of EVs from hydrogel to address dynamically changing pathology remains challenging. Here, we used a series of engineering methods to further enhance EVs’ efficacy and optimize their release pattern from hydrogel.

An MSRE-Assisted Glycerol-Enhanced RPA-CRISPR/Cas12a Method for Methylation Detection
1. Introduction The incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) exhibits a high prevalence in the southern regions of China [1]. Although Epstein–Barr Virus (EBV) antibody and EBV DNA testing can significantly improve the diagnosis of NPC, non-invasive screening using them alone may still lead to underdiagnosis with unsatisfactory clinical reliability [2,3]. Therefore, the development of new screening mechanisms for NPC holds significant value.
