Cognitive transfer and durability of computerised cognitive training in older adults with mild cognitive impairment: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials
Abstract Background: Computerised cognitive training (CCT) may improve cognition in mild cognitive impairment (MCI), but whether gains transfer beyond trained processes and persist after training cessation remains uncertain. We examined immediate and sustained cognitive near transfer, cognitive far transfer, and functional far transfer. Methods: Seven databases were searched from inception to 1 July 2026.
Cold exposure aggravates vein occlusion through non-shivering thermogenesis-induced thrombocytopoiesis
Abstrats Vein occlusion (VO), including deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and retinal vein occlusion (RVO), is a common cause of multiple diseases that severely compromise the quality of life of affected individuals. Epidemiological evidence indicates that VO prevalence increases in cold seasons, yet the underlying mechanism remains unknown. Here, we show that cold exposure markedly elevates peripheral platelet counts, thereby aggravating VO in mouse models.

Nonlinear associations of birth weight and gestational age with initial newborn hearing screening referral in a large Chinese neonatal cohort
Abstract Background: The potential risk factors for concurrent newborn hearing screening and genetic screening remain unclear, posing challenges to the prevention of hearing loss. Although gestational age and birth weight are known to influence hearing development, their associations with newborn hearing screening referral remain controversial due to limited large-scale validation.

Economic value of finotonlimab plus bevacizumab versus sorafenib for first-line treatment of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma in China and the United States
Abstract Background: Finotonlimab combined with bevacizumab demonstrated superior progression-free survival and overall survival compared with sorafenib in patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma. However, its economic value in different healthcare systems has not been fully characterized. This study evaluated the cost-effectiveness of finotonlimab plus bevacizumab from the perspectives of U.S. payers and the Chinese healthcare system.

SigmaR1 is an auxiliary translocon factor with lipid-binding activity that regulates protein and lipid droplet homeostasis - Nature Communications
Abstract Sigma Non-Opioid Intracellular Receptor 1 (SigmaR1) is a member of the sigma family of receptors that interacts with a variety of psychotomimetic drugs and is involved in a wide range of cellular and physiological functions. Despite its increasing importance in human physiology and disease, the subcellular localization of SigmaR1 and its molecular function remain poorly defined.

Sec14L6 is a phosphoinositide transporter that regulates phosphoinositide homeostasis and biogenesis of lipid droplets - Nature Communications
Abstract Lipid droplets (LDs) are evolutionarily conserved organelles essential for cellular metabolism. They form and grow at the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), requiring lipid transfer between these compartments, yet the underlying molecular mechanisms remain elusive. We identify Sec14L6, a unique Sec14 family member, as a lipid transporter regulating phosphoinositide (PIP) homeostasis and LD biogenesis, promoting adipogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells.

Mechanism of Carbon Diffusion and Phase‐Transition‐Induced FCC‐TiC Formation via Hot Pressing
1 Introduction Steel–titanium (Ti) composite structures exemplify a prominent form of dissimilar metal joining, which is typically accomplished using solid-state bonding techniques such as explosive, roll, and diffusion bonding.[1-10] These composite structures effectively integrate the high strength and cost-effectiveness of steel with the corrosion resistance and high specific strength of Ti. Consequently, they are extensively utilized in the aerospace, military, petrochemical, and bridge...

Citric acid-modified BiOCOOH for efficient Rhodamine B degradation: Its photocatalytic performance and mechanism
In this research, a citric acid-modified BiOCOOH (CA-BiOCH) photocatalyst was synthesized via a one-step hydrothermal process and evaluated for Rhodamine B (RhB) degradation. The CA-10-BiOCH sample (prepared with 10 mmol L−1 citric acid) achieved complete removal of 10 mg L−1 RhB within 40 min under UV-365 nm irradiation, corresponding to a rate constant k = 0.086 min−1—about six times higher than that of pristine BiOCOOH. TOC removal reached 64% after 60 min.

Hepatitis C virus NS3/4A protease cleaves SPG20, a key regulator of lipid droplet turnover, to promote lipid droplet formation
Abstract Hepatitis C virus (HCV) assembles in close proximity to lipid droplets (LDs), which play important roles in HCV RNA replication. HCV infection often causes the accumulation of large LDs in hepatocytes. However, the molecular mechanism underlying HCV-induced large LD formation is poorly understood.

The Senescence-Associated-Secretory Phenotype constituting HIF-1α activation is independent of micronuclei induction and associated cGAS-mediated interferon response
Abstract The Senescence-Associated Secretory Phenotype (SASP), characterized by the upregulation of inflammatory cytokines, is triggered during senescence by anti-proliferation stresses, such as replicative exhaustion and centrosome amplification. Previously, we have discovered that centrosome amplification activates a non-canonical SASP that is dominated by HIF-1α-induced inflammatory cytokines instead of the NFκb activation in canonical SASP.

A distinct class of pan-cancer susceptibility genes revealed by an alternative polyadenylation transcriptome-wide association study - Nature Communications

STING contributes to pulmonary hypertension by targeting the interferon and BMPR2 signaling through regulating F2RL3
Abstract Rational/Objectives: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is an incurable disease characterized by pulmonary arterial remodeling. Endothelial injury and inflammation are the key triggers of the disease initiation. Recent findings suggest that STING (stimulator of interferon genes) activation plays a critical role in the endothelial dysfunction and interferon signaling. Here, we investigated the involvement of STING in the pathogenesis of PH.

Sustainable Cellulose-Derived Organic Photonic Gels with Tunable and Dynamic Structural Color
Structural color is produced by light interaction with natural or artificial photonic nanomaterials. (1−6) In nature, organisms exhibit brilliant structural colors adapted through evolution for functions like camouflage, attraction, communication, and signaling. (7) Structural color is highly saturated, highly persistent, and reversible. (8,9) These attributes have motivated researchers to emulate natural photonic nanostructures using synthetic polymers and colloids.

Degradation of Polystyrene Nanoplastics in UV/NaClO and UV/PMS Systems: Insights into Degradation Efficiency, Mechanism, and Toxicity Evaluation
Abstract : Nanoplastics have gradually become a concern due to the wide use of plastics. Nanoplastics in aqueous phase can be exposed to users through water supply networks and cannot be efficiently removed by conventional water treatment processes. This work studied the degradation of polystyrene nanoplastics (PS-NP) by two commonly used advanced oxidation systems: UV/NaClO and UV/peroxymonosulfate (PMS).
Label-Free Anomaly Detection Using Distributed Optical Fiber Acoustic Sensing
Abstract : Deep learning anomaly detection is important in distributed optical fiber acoustic sensing (DAS). However, anomaly detection is more challenging than traditional learning tasks, due to the scarcity of true-positive data and the vast imbalance and irregularity within datasets. Furthermore, it is impossible to catalog all types of anomalies, therefore, the direct application of supervised learning is deficient.
