An elite allele TaNPF7.6-A1 mod enhances nitrogen use efficiency and grain yield in wheat
Abstract Breeding wheat varieties with a high nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) reduces both production costs and threats to the ecological environment. Here, using candidate-gene and genome-wide association studies, we identify TaNPF7.6-A1 as a positive regulator of NUE in wheat. A widely conserved polymorphism in the coding region of TaNPF7.6-A1 produces allele TaNPF7.6-A1mod with a higher transcription level and nitrate transport activity than TaNPF7.6-A1lan, resulting in a greater NUE.
HDAC4 drives ferroptosis and fibrosis by inhibiting Foxo3a-GPX4 axis during AKI–CKD progression
Abstract Histone deacetylase 4 (HDAC4) modifies both histone and non-histone proteins, but its role in the transition from acute kidney injury (AKI) to chronic kidney disease (CKD) remains unclear. Here, we investigated the function and mechanism of HDAC4 in ischemia-reperfusion (IR)-induced AKI-CKD progression using Tasquinimod, a highly selective HDAC4 inhibitor, and conditional tubular HDAC4 knockout mice.

Experimental study on dynamic mechanical properties of concrete for hydraulic dams with PVA fiber
Abstract To investigate the improvement effect of PVA fibers on the dynamic mechanical properties of concrete in water conservancy dams under dry-wet cycles and impact loads, C40 plain concrete and PVA fiber concrete were selected as the research objects. 0 to 120 dry-wet cycle tests and SHPB dynamic compression tests under different air pressures of 0.2 to 0.5 MPa were carried out.
Prediction of pulmonary tuberculosis case trends among older adults in Chongqing based on time series models
Abstract Background: Tuberculosis is a major global public health issue. Older adult individuals, due to factors like immunosenescence and comorbidities, are at high risk for TB. Chongqing’s significant aging population poses severe challenges for TB control in this group. Objective: This study is based on the monthly case counts of pulmonary tuberculosis among older adults aged 65 and above in Chongqing from January 2020 to June 2024.
High-temperature surface decarburization in 8Cr4Mo4V high alloy steel by metal-carbon coupling diffusion
Abstract The high-temperature decarburization behavior of 8Cr4Mo4V high alloy steel was investigated between 700–1100 °C for aircraft bearings application to control this surface degradation for extending the service life of high-performance components. Microstructural analysis indicated that the formation of multi-layered oxide scales is attributed to the sequential outward diffusion and oxidation of alloying elements from the steel matrix.
Ultrasoft Yet Tough Multifunctional Organohydrogels Enabled by Molecular Chain Lubrication Strategy for Self‐Powered Wearable Electronics
1 Introduction The ongoing advancement in flexible electronics increasingly draws inspiration from the human skin owing to its unique flexibility, stretchability, and self-healing capabilities, which collectively drive the integration of compliant materials into next-generation wearable technologies [1, 2].
SVIP in plasma: a candidate blood-based biomarker for early detection of amnestic mild cognitive impairment
Abstract Background: Amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) represents a critical clinical window for early intervention in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Identifying readily detectable, high-abundance plasma biomarkers for aMCI remains clinically important. Overexpression of Valosin-Containing Protein (VCP) has been shown to enhance autophagy and reduce tau levels in AD animal models.

Magnetically tunable selectivity in methane oxidation enabled by Fe-embedded liquid metal catalysts - Nature Nanotechnology
Abstract As they are liquids at room temperature, gallium-based metal substrates allow catalytic metal atoms to move freely without lattice constraints, thereby facilitating the development of catalysts with reconfigurable structures. Here we design an iron-embedded liquid metal catalyst that enables reversible switching of the aggregation and electron spin of iron atoms by controlling an external magnetic field.
Threshold Dynamics and Asymptotic Profiles in a Partially Degenerate Reaction-Diffusion model of Vector‐Borne Diseases With Asymptomatic Infections
To explore the impact of spatial heterogeneity, population movement inevitability, and asymptomatic infection prevalence on vector-borne disease transmission, we developed a partially degenerate reaction–diffusion model to characterize pathogen spread between vectors and hosts.
Minimizing Surface Defects by Chemical Passivation for High‐Performance Perovskite/Silicon Tandem Solar Cells
As the pursuit for cost reduction of photovoltaic technologies goes on, the interest in high-efficiency Si-tandem solar cells has been strongly increasing, among which perovskite/silicon has demonstrated impressive results and prospects for further enhancements. However, the existence of deleterious defects at the surface of wide-bandgap perovskite films in the top solar cells dramatically impedes the potential industrial applications of perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells.

Glyphosate exposure increases early kidney injury biomarker KIM-1 in the pediatric population: a cross-sectional study
Glyphosate is a highly controversial herbicide due to its potential health risks following prolonged exposure. Such health effects range from metabolic disruptions (Swanson et al., 2014) to neurological disease (Seneff et al., 2015), and this variability in health effects associated with glyphosate exposure could be attributed, at least in part, to factors such as age, and how it is related to exposure over time.

Advancements in delivery systems for dietary polyphenols in enhancing radioprotection effects: challenges and opportunities - npj Science of Food
Abstract Radiotherapy, a widely employed cancer treatment, often triggers diverse inflammatory responses such as radiation enteritis, pulmonary injury, pelvic inflammation, dermatitis, and osteitis. Dietary polyphenols have recently emerged as promising agents for mitigating radiation-induced inflammation. However, their clinical application faced challenges related to variable bioavailability, individual pharmacokinetics, optimal dosing, and limited clinical evidence.

Intracardiac Echocardiography and Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation in Dextrocardia
1 Introduction Atrial fibrillation (AF) is one of the most common arrhythmias, and catheter ablation has gradually become a preferred treatment approach (Joglar et al. 2024). And it is gradually being applied to the treatment of atrial fibrillation in patients with congenital heart disease (Hu et al. 2023). However, treating patients with rare anatomical variations, such as dextrocardia, presents additional challenges due to the complex cardiac anatomy.

Hybrid van der Waals Epitaxy
The successful growth of non–van der Waals (vdW) group-III nitride epilayers on vdW substrates not only opens an unprecedented opportunity to obtain high-quality semiconductor thinfilm but also raises a strong debate for its growth mechanism. Here, combining multiscale computational approaches and experimental characterization, we propose that the growth of a nitride epilayer on a vdW substrate, e.g., AlN on graphene, may belong to a previously unknown model, named hybrid vdW epitaxy (HVE).
