(WLOS) — Tropical Storm Arthur developed Wednesday near the central Texas Coast, the National Hurricane Center confirmed Wednesday morning. Arthur will bring a dangerous and life-threatening flood threat from southeastern Texas across the Gulf states into western Georgia and Florida through Thursday. There will be a threat for a few tornadoes in these areas.

(WLOS) — Tropical Storm Arthur has formed off the coast of Texas as of Wednesday morning, making it the first named storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, the National Hurricane Center confirmed. Surface observations and data from the Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunters indicate that maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 miles per hour. Tropical storm-force winds range from 39 to 73 mph.
