Vitamin D Ameliorates Skeletal Muscle Atrophy After Spinal Cord Injury by Upregulating TIGAR and Enhancing Mitochondrial Function
1 Introduction Spinal cord injury (SCI) represents a devastating neurological condition and a leading cause of permanent disability [1]. A major secondary complication following SCI is a rapid and profound skeletal muscle atrophy below the level of the lesion, driven by neural denervation and mechanical unloading [2]. This debilitating muscle wasting is a primary driver of functional impairment and reduced quality of life.
Research progress on the mechanisms by which gut microbiota dysbiosis remodels the bone marrow neuroimmune microenvironment to drive age-related osteoporosis
Abstract Age-related osteoporosis arises from the interplay between impaired bone remodeling, immune remodeling, and chronic low-grade inflammation during aging. Beyond local degeneration in bone tissue, alterations in the gut microbiota, mucosal barrier, and autonomic nervous regulation may reshape the bone marrow immune environment and amplify osteoclastogenic responses. This review integrates evidence linking the gut, neural regulation, and the bone marrow immune microenvironment.

An extended interval structure automated belief rule-based bearing fault diagnosis method for complex engineering systems
Abstract Reliable bearing fault diagnosis requires models that remain accurate under changing operating conditions while providing transparent diagnostic reasoning. Conventional belief rule base (BRB) methods are interpretable but suffer from rule-combination explosion, reliance on expert-defined rule bases, and inflexible inference procedures. This study proposes an extended interval structure automated belief rule base model (EIBRB-Auto).
China’s regulatory innovation for new biomedical technologies
CORRESPONDENCE 01 September 2026 In July, an investigation reported that a six-year-old girl died last year after receiving an experimental brain-directed gene-editing therapy for a rare disorder in Shanghai, China (B. Borrell Science 393, 346–353; 2026). The case pre-dates China’s State Council Order No. 818, a new biomedical technologies framework that came into effect on 1 May. However, the case still highlights the challenges of biomedical regulation.

Abstract This paper is devoted to the synchronisation issue of complex-valued neural networks subject to proportional delay. With the help of Lyapunov stability theory as well as several inequality methods, two types of intermittent controllers can be designed, specifically employing intermittent control and adaptive intermittent control methods, to enable the addressed drive-response systems realise the desired synchronisation.
Polyesterification-assisted interface engineering of carboxylate metal-organic frameworks membranes for selective gas separation
Abstract Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are promising membrane materials for molecular separations because of their well-defined porosity and tunable chemistry. However, their separation performance is often limited by grain boundaries and interfacial defects that introduce non-selective transport pathways. Here, we proposed an in-situ interfacial polyesterification-assisted bonding strategy for constructing MOF-rich self-standing membranes using triethanolamine (TEOA) in the UiO-66 system.
Perioperative ctDNA dynamics predict outcomes in resectable NSCLC using an ultrasensitive and cost-effective assay
Abstract Recurrence after curative surgery is a major challenge in early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), as conventional imaging often fails to detect minimal residual disease (MRD). We prospectively analyzed 119 resected NSCLC to investigate the clinical utility of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) for predicting recurrence by PErsonalized Analysis of Cancer (PEAC) system. ctDNA dynamics were correlated with disease-free survival (DFS), overall survival (OS), and recurrence.

Stabilization of two dimensional switched systems with unstable modes based on the weighted average dwell time strategy
Abstract This study focuses on the stabilization of two-dimensional (2-D) switched systems utilizing the Fornasini-Marchesini local state-space model. Without any controller, by designing a set of switching signals subject to weighted average dwell time approach, the 2-D switched systems with all subsystems unstable could be stabilized. The weighted average dwell time approach used in this paper is more effective than mode-dependent dwell time and average dwell time used in other literature.
