Jim Pillen visited Metropolitan Community College on Tuesday to announce the launch of the Workforce Pell Grant program, a new federal initiative designed to help students pay for short-term career training in high-demand fields. “I think it is really a big day for creating opportunities to lift people up and obviously it has a big impact to workforce development,” Pillen said. The Workforce Pell Grant is part of the Trump administration’s Working Families Tax Cuts Act.

The event gave patients and the public a firsthand look at tools used to detect and biopsy lung cancer in its early stages.

Millard veterans groups joining forces, moving to new location

MILLARD, Neb. (WOWT) — Two Millard-area veterans organizations are merging and relocating to a larger space after years of discussion, forming a new group called the Millard Veterans’ Alliance. Millard American Legion Post 374 has operated at its location near 138th and S Street for 13 years. With its lease with Lord of Hosts Church ending at the close of the year, leadership said the expiration opened the door for expansion.
