These models most commonly parameterise the formation of inter-regional axonal connections using a trade-off between connection cost and some measure of topological complexity or functional value. Despite its simplicity, GNMs can generate synthetic networks that capture many topological properties of empirical brain networks.
Multiscale heterogeneity of white matter morphometry in psychiatric disorders
Abstract Background: Interindividual variability in neurobiological and clinical characteristics in mental illness is often overlooked by classical group mean case control studies. Studies using normative modelling to infer person specific deviations of grey matter volume have indicated that group means are not representative of most individuals. The extent to which this variability is present in white matter morphometry, which is integral to brain function, remains unclear.

Psychiatric disorders are characterized by individual variability in neuroanatomy, raising questions about mechanisms driving phenotypic similarities. One explanation is heterogeneous abnormalities are connected to common brain networks. We combined normative modelling of grey (GMV) and white matter volume (WMV) with lesion network mapping to map the functional-circuits and structural-connections within which abnormalities are embedded in six disorders.

Thom Yorke emerged from self-quarantine Wednesday to perform a creepy new song on NBC’s “The Tonight Show.” Titled “Plasticine Figures,” the woozy piano ballad found Yorke at home or in some kind of dimly lit rehearsal space, and featured lyrics like “happy to serve, happy to linger, while you make up your face,” which, on paper at least, echoed the 1995 Radiohead hit “Fake Plastic Trees.” Yorke shared a lyric sheet for the solo tune earlier in the day.

Late Wednesday, the NBA suspended its current season of play amid the coronavirus pandemic, which continues to wreak havoc with over 1,000 confirmed cases and 37 deaths in the U.S. The announcement came shortly after President Donald Trump issued a 30-day travel ban from Europe on national TV. “The NBA is suspending game play following the conclusion of tonight’s schedule of games until further notice,” the league statement read.
