MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Starting Nov. 1, more than 750,000 Alabamians will not receive receive SNAP benefits due to the ongoing government shutdown, according to the Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR). In anticipation for an unprecedented surge in customers in need, The Heart of Alabama Food Bank is doubling its efforts to help the community. The food bank, which sends resources across 35 Alabama counties, distributed more than 33 million pounds of food last year.
