TRUSSVILLE, Ala. (WBRC) - The Trussville City Schools Board of Education voted Thursday, July 2, to name an upcoming outdoor classroom project after the late Cahaba Elementary School Principal Joy Tyner. Before retiring in the spring of 2026, Tyner had served 10 years at Cahaba Elementary and around 40 years as an educator. She died Tuesday, June 30, after a battle with cancer. She was 62. The Trussville City Schools board vote will see the space named the Joy Tyner Outdoor Classroom.
