HOUSTON – A woman was shot several times after getting into an argument with a man in north Houston on Saturday, according to police. The incident happened at an apartment complex around 12:30 a.m. near 3200 Tidwell Road. Authorities are still trying to figure out what led up to the argument between the two people, who have not been identified. “She was over here in the street having a conversation with... a Hispanic male. Safety Around Water: Mobile program teaches basic swim, CPR and survival skills

HOUSTON – It’s pool season and with all the fun that comes with that, also comes some danger for inexperienced swimmers. The YMCA of Greater Houston is teaming up with Reliant Energy for its Safety Around Water program, which teaches drowning and prevention skills to underserved Houstonians. The program teaches basic swim skills, such as floating and the front crawl, as well as CPR and survival swim skills.

Power was restored for a large portion of the Houston area after strong storms blew through Wednesday, but many residents in north Harris County remain without air conditioning as triple-digit temperatures return. “It puts you in a bad situation, you know, it’s basically a life or limb situation with this heat,” said Jeffery Daniel, whose godmother lost power.
