Lipid-organized tetramerization of PLPP1 defines the molecular basis of spatial lipid phosphate signaling
Abstract Bioactive lipid phosphates, such as lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) and sphingosine-1-phosphate, are potent membrane-embedded signals that regulate fundamental processes in development, immunity, and cancer. The termination of these signals is mediated by phospholipid phosphatases (PLPPs), yet the molecular principles governing their function at the membrane interface have remained poorly understood.
Emergence of polarization in networks of large language model agents
Abstract Rapid advances in large language models (LLMs) have empowered autonomous agents to generate social networks, communicate, and form shared and diverging opinions on political issues. However, our understanding of their collective behaviours and underlying mechanisms remains incomplete.
Circulating cytokines and inflammatory indices associate with prognosis and toxicities in first line extensive stage small cell lung cancer immunochemotherapy
Abstract Although chemoimmunotherapy has been the standard first-line treatment for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC), survival benefits remain unsatisfactory and effective biomarkers are lacking. Circulating cytokines and inflammatory indices provide non-invasive, dynamic monitoring advantages. However, their prognostic value and associations with immune-related adverse events (irAEs) remain unclear.

Large-scale esophageal cancer screening through noncontrast computed tomography and artificial intelligence
|
Abstract The absence of accurate, noninvasive, scalable screening tools keeps early esophageal cancer (EC) detection a global health challenge. Although noncontrast computed tomography (NC CT) is widely accessible, the esophagus is a hollow tubular structure prone to collapse and motion artifacts, making small early malignant lesions difficult to distinguish from normal tissue.

Solvent polarizability governs Li⁺ transport kinetics for high energy lithium metal batteries
Abstract Fast Li+ kinetics are essential for high energy lithium metal batteries, yet the factors governing these kinetics remain unclear. Here, we decipher a quantitative structure-kinetics relationship by demonstrating that polarizability dictates Li+ desolvation and transport. Specifically, the inert solvents with low polarizability generate weak induced dipoles under interfacial electric fields, which keeps the structural integrity of anion-rich solvates.

Transcriptome analysis identifies candidate genes for southern root-knot nematode resistance in cultivated peach
Abstract Root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.) damage peach trees, and one of the most effective ways instead of the most fundamental way as there are other management strategies. We compared root transcriptomes of resistant ‘Nemaguard’ and susceptible ‘Bailey’ after inoculation with Meloidogyne incognita, the southern root-knot nematode. Roots were sampled at 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, and 24 h after inoculation. Both genotypes showed the strongest transcriptional response at 24 h.
Hydrophobicity strategy drives contact-electro-catalysis on natural silicate minerals
Abstract Contact-electro-catalysis (CEC) at catalyst-water interfaces shows promise for wastewater purification, metal recovery, and H2O2 production, but catalyst design has mainly emphasized electron-withdrawing ability while overlooking interfacial water transfer. Here, we develop a hydrophobicity engineering strategy for natural silicate minerals to optimize catalyst-water contact by balancing the water approach and removal.
Mitochondrial SUMOylation of NDUFA9 drives ClpP-dependent degradation and complex I dysfunction in a Leigh syndrome–associated mutation
Abstract Mitochondrial complex I (CI) dysfunction causes many inherited mitochondrial diseases, including Leigh syndrome, yet how post-translational modifications control CI subunit proteostasis remains unclear. Here we identify NDUFA9 as a mitochondrial SUMOylation substrate. SUMO1 conjugation at Lys370 promotes NDUFA9 binding to ClpP through the SIM motifs of ClpP and accelerates ClpP-dependent degradation.

With the increasing burden of chronic non-communicable diseases, residents’ physical and mental health problems have shown an overlapping trend. The mediating role of mental health literacy (MHL) between physical health and psychological outcomes warrants further investigation.
Fraxinellone mitigates acute lung injury by targeting HIF-1α to suppress pyroptosis and inflammation
Abstract Purpose: Acute pulmonary contusion (APC), a life-threatening trauma-associated condition, currently lacks targeted pharmacological therapies. Fraxinellone (FRA) inhibits Hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) synthesis, but its binding mechanism and anti-APC action remain unclear. This study was designed to assess the therapeutic potential of FRA, a natural substance with known anti-inflammatory properties, as a means of attenuating APC progression through the inhibition of HIF-1α.
Modulating biofilm distribution to control microbiologically influenced corrosion and mechanical degradation of X80 steel
Abstract Microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) associated with sulfate‑reducing bacteria (SRB) is a leading cause of pipeline failure in the oil and gas industry. Biofilm structure and distribution strongly influence MIC, but controllable modulation remains challenging. Here, we report a novel method to regulate biofilm distribution of Desulfovibrio vulgaris on X80 pipeline steel using epoxy resin and spherical glass beads to define three standardized areas (100, 390, 640 cm2).
Electrostatic regulation of solvation chemistry enables ampere-hour-scale high-energy lithium metal batteries
