Wichita Pride Festival 2026 sees high turnout despite extreme heat

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Wichita Pride Festival was held on Saturday. Even with severe heat, there was a big turnout in downtown. Parade goers and participants shared why the heat didn’t discourage them. “It’s a great day. We’re glad that the sun is out and it’s not raining,” said Mary Caruso, who was in the parade. Downtown was full of every color of the rainbow, and attendees came prepared with plenty of pride-themed fans and umbrellas to beat the heat and the sun.

Heavy rains keep Wichita water damage companies busy with calls

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Heavy rains in June have kept water damage restoration companies busy, but homeowners can take steps to protect their properties. Blaine Nichols, operations manager for SERVPRO of Northwest Wichita, said his crews have received more calls in recent weeks. “Yeah, it’s been spotty here and there, but definitely getting more calls, more sump pumps going out, foundation issues,” Nichols said.
