Natural medicines for asthma management: mechanisms aligned with endotypes and multi-dimensional intervention
Abstract Background: Asthma is a heterogeneous chronic inflammatory airway disease affecting over 300 million people globally. Inhaled corticosteroids remain first-line therapy but cause adverse effects and fail to address core pathologies in 5%–10% of patients—particularly those with Type 2-low endotypes exhibiting glucocorticoid resistance. Natural medicines, with multi-component synergy, offer a promising strategy to bridge this gap.
Countering climate misinformation with large language models: Evidence from ChatGPT
Discussion This study investigated how message-level features of LLM-generated climate content shape people’s credibility judgments and climate attitudes at a time when LLMs increasingly mediate information flows. Building on prior research in LLMs [19–22] and climate communication [7,10], our findings demonstrate that attributes of LLM-generated responses substantially influence credibility evaluations.
Brown fat protects against hepatic oxidative stress by remodeling the circulating metabolome
To determine the contributions of BAT and other organs to the BAT-linked metabolites in circulation, we developed the quantitative profiles of these metabolites and lipids across twelve mouse tissues (Figure 2A). Subsequently, we examined if any of these metabolites and lipids were detected from (1) the conditioned media in ex vivo cultured iBAT explants, (2) EFs isolated from iBAT as well as epididymal WAT (eWAT) as a comparison, and (3) the conditioned media in cultured brown adipocytes.
Disease-specific heterogeneity of C-reactive protein across 21 hematologic disorders reflects divergent inflammatory and hematopoietic phenotypes
Abstract Background: C-reactive protein (CRP) is routinely used to quantify systemic inflammation, yet its interpretation in hematologic disorders is complicated by marked biological heterogeneity. We characterized pretreatment CRP distributions across a broad hematologic disease spectrum and examined whether CRP–laboratory associations differed among clinically relevant subtypes.
Chromosome-level genome assembly of the Poitevin stickleback ( Pungitius vulgaris )
Abstract The Poitevin stickleback (Pungitius vulgaris) is a Near Threatened freshwater fish endemic to France. Using PacBio HiFi long reads and Hi-C scaffolding, we generated the first chromosome-level reference genome for this species. The assembly spans 489.65 Mb across 21 chromosomes, with a scaffold N50 of 21.77 Mb and 99.5% BUSCO completeness. A total of 21,656 protein-coding genes were predicted, and approximately 25.65% of the genome was identified as repetitive sequences.
Mitochondrial control of amino acid catabolism by a fasting-inducible mitochondrial carrier
Abstract INTRODUCTION RESULTS DISCUSSION MATERIALS AND METHODS Acknowledgments Supplementary Materials REFERENCES Information & Authors Metrics & Citations View Options References Figures Tables Media Share Abstract Metabolic adaptation to nutrient deprivation requires coordinated control of mitochondrial anaplerosis and cataplerosis; however, how metabolite flux across the mitochondrial membrane is regulated during fasting remains less defined.
Cohesin haploinsufficiency and inv(16) cooperate to reinforce Fli1 gene transcriptional programs during acute myeloid leukemia initiation and maintenance
Abstract Core binding factor (CBF) acute myeloid leukemias typically harbor the translocations t(8;21) or inv(16). As cohesin mutations are less commonly observed with inv(16) than with t(8;21), we hypothesized that they may negatively impact inv(16)-driven AML.

Association between the dietary obesity-prevention score and risk of gestational diabetes mellitus: an exploratory subgroup analysis
Abstract Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) presents significant risks to maternal and offspring health. Modifiable factors like dietary quality are important for prevention. The Dietary Obesity-Prevention Score (DOS) is a validated tool for assessing obesity-related dietary quality. Nevertheless, its association with GDM remain unclear. This study aimed to examine the relationship between DOS and GDM risk.
Adipocyte OX40L promotes adipose T cell activation and insulin resistance in obesity
Abstract T cells contribute critically to obesity-induced adipose inflammation and insulin resistance, yet the co-stimulatory signals that govern their activation in adipose tissue remain unclear. Here, we systematically profile co-stimulatory molecules in adipocytes and adipose tissue macrophages and identify OX40 ligand (OX40L) as the most robustly upregulated in obesity. OX40L is also elevated in adipocytes from obese humans.
The outcome of digital technology in microvascular free flap reconstruction for ORNJ: a retrospective study
Abstract Background: Osteoradionecrosis of the jaw (ORNJ) is a serious and refractory late complication of radiotherapy used in the treatment of head and neck cancer. Microvascular free flap reconstruction is an ideal option to reconstruct the residual defect after surgical resection of ORNJ lesion. The application of virtual surgical planning (VSP) and three-dimensional printing (3DP) can effectively improve the reconstructive results with free flaps in jaw bone defect.
Cryo-FSC: A Dynamic Functional Connectivity Index Reveals Spatio-Temporal Shifts in Sediment Transport in the Permafrost-Dominated River Systems
1 Introduction Accelerated climate change is profoundly altering sediment transport from landscapes to river networks, impacting global water quality, reservoir longevity, and downstream ecosystems (Bracken et al., 2013, 2015; Heckmann et al., 2018). Quantifying the efficiency of these water and sediment cascades—called sediment connectivity—is therefore essential for predicting landscape evolution and mitigating associated risks (Michalek et al., 2023; Partington et al., 2017).
Region-specific vulnerability to vascular risk factors and modifiable protective influences on white matter hyperintensities
Abstract Region-specific vulnerabilities to single and combined vascular risk factors and the role of modifiable behaviors in white matter hyperintensity (WMH) progression remain unclear. We aimed to characterize neuroanatomical patterns of WMH vulnerability and to identify subgroup-specific factors associated with lower burden and slower progression.
Mitochondria-derived vesicles with bioenergetic units from brown adipose tissue attenuate cardiac remodeling post-myocardial infarction
Abstract Post-myocardial infarction remodeling is a major cause of heart failure, with contributions from multiple organs. Brown adipose tissue protects against cardiovascular disease, but the mediators of brown adipose tissue-heart crosstalk and their roles in cardiac remodeling remain elusive. Here, we show that mitochondria-derived vesicles from brown adipose tissue transfer to cardiac macrophages and attenuate pathological remodeling via anti-inflammatory effects.

The C16orf87 protein is a subunit of the MIER corepressor complex controlling embryonic development and cell migration
Abstract Histone modifications by histone deacetylases (HDACs) are essential for controlling chromatin structure and regulating gene expression. Functionally, HDACs act as enzymatic subunits within diverse multisubunit corepressor complexes, thereby targeting distinct sets of genes. Here, we identify C16orf87 as a previously uncharacterized functional subunit of the MIER corepressor complex that mediates HDAC1 and MIER1 protein interactions.

Mitochondrial control of fuel switching via carnitine biosynthesis
Abstract Environmental adaptation often involves a shift in energy utilization toward mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation, which requires carnitine. Besides dietary sources of animal origin, carnitine biosynthesis from trimethyllysine (TML) is essential, particularly for those who consume plant-based diets; however, its molecular regulation and physiological role remain elusive. Here, we identify SLC25A45 as a mitochondrial TML carrier that controls carnitine biosynthesis and fuel switching.
