Nebraska Legislature bill looking to cap minimum wage increases fails

LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) - The bill to cap state minimum wage increases to 1.5% annually failed to overcome the filibuster on Wednesday. Nebraska senators voted 31-16, failing to reach the 33 votes need to advance LB258. The legislation, introduced by State Sen. Jane Raybould of Lincoln, had received exactly 33 votes in the previous two rounds; but this time State Sen. Tony Sorrentino of Elkhorn didn’t vote, and Lincoln Sen. Beau Ballard wasn’t present.
