SOMERVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Deputies were called to help with traffic control Tuesday night as firefighters battled a blaze at Allison’s Tire & Auto Repair in Somerville. While crews worked the scene, Morgan County Sheriff’s officials say a vehicle failed to yield and drove through the area, running over multiple fire hoses. Deputies say the driver circled the area in an apparent attempt to flee, narrowly missing firefighters and fire engines.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — The match between Mexico and Ecuador for the round of 32 of the World Cup was delayed Tuesday night due to a thunderstorm over the Mexico City Stadium area. The storm started about two hours before the match was set to begin. No announcement was made on when it would start. Mexico is aiming to qualify to the round of 16 and inch closer to tie their best performances in the World Cup. Mexico reached the quarterfinals, playing at home, in 1970 and 1986.

NEW YORK (AP) — The U.S. Justice Department and 17 states reached settlement agreements with three major egg producers this week to resolve allegations that the companies illegally colluded for years to raise prices, including when the cost soared to record highs last year. The states and federal government accused Cal-Maine Foods, Versova and Hickman’s Egg Ranch of a behind-the-scenes arrangement to “artificially inflate the daily price quotations for eggs” between June 2022 and March 2025.

NORTH COURTLAND, Ala. (WAFF) - A Courtland police officer was involved in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday evening. Authorities say the crash occurred just before 7 p.m. at the intersection of Alabama 20 and County Road 150 in North Courtland. Officials say the officer’s car overturned at the scene. The officer, who is not being identified at this time, is being airlifted to Huntsville Hospital. This story will be updated when more information is made available.

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD/Gray News) - Arizona authorities say a woman is dead and a man has been arrested after a shooting at an apartment complex. According to the Tucson Police Department, officers were called to a report of a shooting at the Lakeside Casitas Apartments on Monday night. When officers arrived, they reported finding 38-year-old Aimee Leigh Kimble dead on the back porch of 33-year-old William Michael Pritchard’s apartment.

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The Atlanta Braves are opening a three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday, and the game will be broadcast live on Gray Media.
