LOUIS (First Alert 4) -- First Alert 4 Investigates continues to ask questions about whether St. Louis has enough ambulances available when residents call 911, and whether a budget decision recently finalized could make the problem worse. Sources say city EMS — which operates under the city fire department — has 12 ambulances — roughly half of what federal guidelines recommend. St. Louis Firefighters Local 73 said the city responds to roughly 90,000 medical calls per year.

(First Alert 4) - The St. Louis Board of Aldermen on Friday approved a plan to require water meters on new construction and certain rehabilitation projects, a move city leaders say could produce more accurate billing and generate more revenue for the water department. Under Board Bill 28, water meters would be required for new construction, rehabilitation projects that need a new water service line, and service line repairs when the work already involves excavation and replacement.
