An XGBoost-SHAP classifier to distinguish asymptomatic hyperuricemia from acute primary gouty arthritis
Abstract Asymptomatic hyperuricemia (AH) is an important precursor of acute primary gouty arthritis (AGA), but not all patients with AH will progress to acute primary gouty arthritis. Given the limitations of relying solely on uric acid levels to accurately identify AH and AGA, there is an urgent clinical need for an auxiliary identification tool that integrates routine laboratory indicators, possesses discriminative ability, and is easy to interpret.
Integrated genetic and epigenetic diagnosis of facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy using Oxford Nanopore long-read sequencing
Abstract Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) is a genetically and epigenetically complex disorder in which the comprehensive characterization of the D4Z4 repeat array remains challenging. We applied Oxford Nanopore long-read sequencing (ONT-LRS) to three patients with FSHD, one unaffected control, and a trio family to simultaneously characterize D4Z4 repeat size, haplotype, DNA methylation, and genomic structure.

Targeting C/EBPβ/ Calbindin 1 pathway bolsters the neural resilience to tau pathology and improves tau-impaired episodic memory
Abstract Intracellular accumulation of tau protein is a defining feature of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and is closely associated with episodic memory loss. In our previous report, we highlighted the high susceptibility of ventral hippocampal Calbindin1- neurons in the dorsal part of ventral hippocampal CA1 (dvCA1Calb1- neurons) to tau pathology in AD. However, it remains unclear whether and how dvCA1Calb1+ neurons are also vulnerable during the chronic and progressive process of AD.

Functional divergence of two soybean cytosolic serine hydroxymethyltransferases in development and defense against soybean cyst nematode
Abstract Serine hydroxymethyltransferase (SHMT) is an enzyme essential for one-carbon metabolism. In higher plants, multiple SHMT genes code for isoforms that function in the cytosol, nucleus, mitochondria, and chloroplasts. The soybean genome contains two cytosolic SHMTs, GmSHMT05 and GmSHMT08, sharing high sequence identity and similar expression throughout soybean development.
Vegetation structure shapes behavioral, neuroimmune and gut microbial recovery after chronic stress in mice
Abstract Chronic stress impairs behavior, neuroimmune regulation and gut microbial ecology, but whether natural-environment structure shapes recovery remains unclear. Here, we tested whether landscape design, beyond greenness alone, promotes recovery in chronically stressed male mice. During a 28-day recovery phase, mice were exposed to five parameterized vegetated landscapes differing in openness, canopy density and visual complexity, a matched urban-gray setting, or standard housing.

Two-step purification of elastin-like polypeptide-fusion superoxide dismutase via hydrophobicity and thermoresponsiveness
1 Introduction Foam separation is an emerging separation technology that relies on the selective adsorption of substances at the gas-liquid interface. Its underlying principle is that surface-active materials have a propensity to accumulate at the interface, enabling the enrichment and separation of specific components. This technique has gained substantial attention in various fields, especially in the separation of proteins (Fang et al., 2023; Wang et al., 2023).
Exceptional points with opposite chirality from metasurface enantiomers and application in dual phase-encoding holograms
Recently. the topological properties of exceptional points (EPs) in non-Hermitian metasurfaces have been employed in optical phase engineering, which is mainly due to the rigorous 2π-phase accumulation around a single EP. Thus far, the great majority of research has been done on a single isolated EP, due to more than one EP not being easily attainable in such resonance-induced loss systems.
