BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY: First Alert Weather Day continues due to the ongoing threat of flash flooding across Central Alabama. This is a dangerous situation with some roads already covered with water. A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect for Jefferson County and Shelby Counties until 5:15PM, with rainfall rates averaging an incredible 2 to 5 inches per hour in some locations. A Flood Watch remains in effect through 7 PM this evening.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across Central Alabama this afternoon and evening. The first storms may fire up across east Alabama before gradually pushing westward toward the I-65 corridor later today. While widespread severe weather is not expected, we can’t rule out an isolated strong storm capable of producing frequent lightning, gusty winds, and torrential downpours.
