Keokuk superintendent announces retirement

KEOKUK (WGEM) - Keokuk Superintendent Dr. Kathy Dinger announced her retirement on Saturday. Dinger made the announcement at the beginning of the Keokuk School Board annual retreat. Dinger said her decision came from wanting to put the focus back on educating the children of Keokuk. She explained that the focus of the school board, district and the community should always be on the students and teachers in the district. Dinger was appointed as superintendent in January of 2023.

Pikeland Superintendent Russ Tepen said the details they are allowed to share publicly are limited due to confidentiality requirements.

Pre-Independence Day Tractor Pull postponed at Adams County Fairgrounds

ADAMS COUNTY, Ill. (WGEM) - Adams County Fair officials reported their tractor pull, originally scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed. The Pre-Independence Day Tractor Pull will now take place on Sunday, June 28. They said the postponement is due to Friday’s rain making the track too wet. Fair officials said gates open at 1:30 p.m., with pulling beginning at 3 p.m. Admission is $10 at the gate, kids 12 and under get in free.
