Red Cross seeks blood donors during summer shortage

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The Red Cross needs help to boost the area’s blood supply as donations typically decrease during the summer months. The organization wants to make sure there is enough to help people in need. During June, the Red Cross is encouraging people to donate. Every donor will get a $15 e-gift card to the store of their choice and be entered to win one of two $7,500 gift cards.

St. John’s Ministries seeks backpack donations for homeless

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) — St. John’s Ministries is collecting backpack donations to help people experiencing homelessness store their belongings. The organization is seeking durable backpacks that can withstand daily use. Backpacks with comfortable straps and multiple compartments are preferred. Both new and gently used backpacks are accepted. Many people served by St. John’s do not have a place to store their belongings and must carry everything they own with them.

Fire that killed sisters in Howard blamed on gasoline containers

HOWARD, Wis. (WBAY) - The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is closing its investigation into a fire that killed twin sisters in Howard last November. Authorities determined the fatal fire was caused by gasoline containers in the home on Rockwell Rd. The sheriff’s office says three damaged containers were stored in an unsafe manner, introducing “ignitable vapors” into the home. The vapors ignited in a small explosion that set off the fire. Haley Ann Fritsch and Kayla Lynn Fritsch, 26, died in the house.
