Ahoy! Get Your Pirate Name Here
As a youth, I had a bizarre fascination with pirates, not so much with anything related to their craft or their folklore…merely their dialect. For some reason, folks tend to regard anything said in a pirate accent as humorous, regardless of how inflammatory or insensitive the remark. It’s like, “Well, he’s not serious. He’s speaking as a pirate.” Luckily for me, my penchant for speaking in pirate tongue was shared by several of my closest friends.
Thank You, Teachers
Former teachers reveal what made them quit and it explains why there are teacher shortages
Thank You, Teachers
I come from a long line of educators – my grandmother, my parents, countless aunts and uncles and cousins and in-laws, my wife, even I had the privilege of teaching a course at UWGB back in 2013 – so I will admit bias when it comes to what follows, but I feel as though I have witnessed this profession from all possible angles, and what follows still falls short of what needs to said. Like so many in the public sector, educators have become increasingly easy targets these days.
The Greatest Holiday Themed Delicacy Ever Created
Easter is in the rear view mirror, but it’s not REALLY Easter in our home until the Buddy Squirrel Original Whipped Crème Egg box arrives.
Nick’s Tip: Don’t Pitch the Peeps!
Ahh Peeps…arguably the most divisive holiday candy in existence. Think about it. Do you know anyone who is “just ok” with Peeps? You either love ‘em or you hate ‘em. Me? I’m a Peeps lover, and am ecstatic that, over the years, Peeps have poked their marshmallow heads into the holiday periphery. You can get Peeps for Halloween and Christmas and Valentine’s Day and pretty much every occasion nowadays. Fantastic. Truthfully, I don’t really understand the hatred for Peeps.
So Aaron Rodgers Embarks on a Darkness Retreat. So What?
Just being honest…I’d kill for a darkness retreat right about now. That’s a dream come true for me. I mean, I’d like my wife and two children to be there with me, so it’s not really a true isolation retreat. And I guess I’d like to mix in some sunsets and some fishing and some hammock time and some board games, so it’s not really a true darkness retreat, either. So I guess I’d just kill for a vacation on Loon Lake with my family.
Easiest Sloppy Joe Recipe EVER
It’s a source of great entertainment for us on the show, as the number of times that I have given out this recipe over the air is approaching the thousands, but every week, without fail, there are a handful of folks who text in, asking for the deets. I have blogged about this before, but cannot, for the life of me, locate it. So in a fit of irony, I now find myself in the same “where is that recipe?” headspace as everyone who has ever texted in . LOL So here we go… Let’s do this together.
Butterfinger Fudge Recipe
All right! Here’s what all the Vitrano Test Kitchen fuss is all about. I am an experimental type in the kitchen, willing to whip up just about anything at which to take a run. The latest go something I chanced upon while searching for candy corn recipes. I know, I know, I’ve already lost about 65% of you, but please stick with this one. While I admit to being a fan of candy corn, this one has nothing to do with candy corn flavor.
NFL Draft: Can We All Just Collectively Agree That We Know Nothing?
I love the NFL draft. It truly is one of the great equalizers in sports fandom. Like the NCAA tournament bracket contest, when an 11-year-old kid has about as solid a shot at picking a game as any expert, fans today will wildly speculate and irrationally judge their team’s process with the same success rate as the folks who actually receive a paycheck to do so.

This is The Best Holiday Themed Treat EVER
Easter is here…sort of. While it is Easter weekend, it’s not REALLY Easter in our home until the Buddy Squirrel Original Whipped Crème Egg box arrives. And I have confirmation that it is en route! This is arguably the greatest limited release, holiday themed treat ever created! When I was a kid, the Original Whipped Crème Egg from Buddy Squirrel was such a coveted commodity that the release date was a calendar-worthy event.
The Best Brewers Theme Songs for Opening Day
Aaaand we’re baaaack! So? So, let’s Dance! While I will argue that there is never a bad day to celebrate these achievements in music, there is no day more perfect than today. Opening Day, 2022. How badly do we need this? So let’s hear ya, True Blue Brew Crew fans… Here we go, Brewers, here we go (clap, clap) 162-0…it’s still possible! (Now please don’t rain!)
I Can’t Keep Giving Out This Free Advice
Alvin Kamara: the most recent pro athlete who should listen more to the show. If you listen regularly, you’ve undoubtedly heard me discuss my “Big 3” theory. It is a working philosophy that all professional athletes would be wise to avoid each of the following: Strip clubs / “Late Night” clubs Motorcycles Pick-up basketball games.

How to Call Santa’s Personal Hotline
Since March, every aspect of our lives has existed within the context of COVID-19. It’s exhausting, but it’s reality. Visits with the Big Guy from the North Pole are no exception in 2020. He’s been a little harder to nail down this Christmas season. And if you can get to him (or he can get to you), it’s not quite the same level of one-on-one that we’ve come to know and love and in which we place our hope. But like every obstacle in our lives, we can surrender to it, or we can rise above it.

Thursday, January 02, 2020 9:59 a.m. by Nick Vitrano My mother’s Christmas décor is like that which you would find in a museum - it's strictly to be admired and never to be touched - and that’s not a jab at my mother. It’s just what it is. Each display is meticulously planned out and executed. The decorations themselves are almost universally fragile, many of them literally a century old. That’s also not a jab (nor a joke).
The EASIEST Way to Secure Your Personal Info
It’s as certain as the sun will rise in the east: hackers are always a step ahead of the technology we use to protect ourselves. It’s a constant game of catch-up for us on the outside of the nefarious arena of personal info theft. The real rub is how easily we are exploited. Despite the shady nature of the business and those who practice it, they often harvest our most personal of info in plain sight. In fact, we often willingly hand it right on over to ‘em.
