Carbon nanoparticle-Fe (II) complex for ferroptosis therapy in refractory solid tumors: a phase I trial
Abstract We developed a novel carbon nanoparticle-Fe (II) complex prepared via suspension injection (CNSI-Fe) to induce cancer cell ferroptosis through direct intratumoral delivery of ferrous iron. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that CNSI-Fe has promising antitumour effects, thereby prompting this first-in-human, single-arm, open-label, dose-escalation phase I trial in patients with refractory solid tumors.
An exploratory study on the influence of 60 Co irradiation on the volatile organic components and antibacterial activity of Artemisia argyi Folium
Abstract Background/Objectives: Artemisia argyi Folium, renowned as the “king of herbs” and one of the oldest medicinal plants in China, is popular worldwide. However, it is highly susceptible to contamination by bacteria, molds, and insect eggs during harvesting, drying, and processing. 60Co irradiation is currently applied as an effective method.

Association between a composite metabolic index and mortality in critically ill patients with pulmonary hypertension: a retrospective cohort study
Abstract Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a heterogeneous condition with variable prognosis across World Health Organization (WHO) subtypes. The fasting blood glucose to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (FBG/HDL-C) ratio has been suggested as a metabolic predictor of adverse outcomes in critically ill patients, but its prognostic value in PH remains unclear. This retrospective cohort included 281 ICU patients with pulmonary hypertension (PH) from MIMIC-IV (2008–2022).
Targeting cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 reprograms tumor-promoting myelopoiesis and overcomes immune checkpoint therapy resistance
Abstract ‘Emergency’ myelopoiesis usually occurs to facilitate malignancy progression. Immunosuppressive neutrophils, also termed polymorphonuclear myeloid-derived suppressor cells, are potent mediators of immunosuppression and tumor promotion. Here we demonstrate that the STAT3-dependent induction of cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 (CysLTR1), with a key role in asthma and other inflammatory conditions, sustains tumor-promoting emergency myelopoiesis.

Effects of negative‐pressure wound therapy in the prevention of surgical‐site wound infection after vascular surgery: A meta‐analysis
1 INTRODUCTION Vascular surgery represents one of the more complex types of surgical procedures in clinical practice, with patients often presenting with multiple comorbidities. These patients are susceptible to postoperative complications, such as heart dysfunction and nutritional deficiencies, which can adversely affect surgical outcomes.1, 2 Moreover, surgeries involving the heart and major blood vessels are inherently destructive, time-consuming, and carry high risks.
p53 suppresses MHC class II presentation by intestinal epithelium to protect against radiation-induced gastrointestinal syndrome - Nature Communications
Abstract Radiation-induced gastrointestinal syndrome is a major complication and limiting factor for radiotherapy. Tumor suppressor p53 has a protective role in radiation-induced gastrointestinal toxicity. However, its underlying mechanism remains unclear. Here we report that regulating the IL12-p40/MHC class II signaling pathway is a critical mechanism by which p53 protects against radiation-induced gastrointestinal syndrome.

Clustered Federated Learning Based on Momentum Gradient Descent for Heterogeneous Data
Abstract : Data heterogeneity may significantly deteriorate the performance of federated learning since the client’s data distribution is divergent. To mitigate this issue, an effective method is to partition these clients into suitable clusters. However, existing clustered federated learning is only based on the gradient descent method, which leads to poor convergence performance.

Epigenetic priming enhances antitumor immunity in platinum-resistant ovarian cancer
Abstract Background. Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have modest activity in ovarian cancer (OC). To augment their activity, we used priming with the hypomethylating agent guadecitabine in a phase II study. Methods. Eligible patients had platinum-resistant OC, normal organ function, measurable disease, and received up to 5 prior regimens. The treatment included guadecitabine (30 mg/m2) on days 1–4, and pembrolizumab (200 mg i.v.) on day 5, every 21 days. The primary endpoint was the response rate.
Free-Standing MrGO/S Film with Suppressive Shuttle Effect for High-Performance Flexible Lithium-Sulfur Batteries
Lithium-sulfur (Li–S) batteries have high expectations for large-scale applications in energy devices because of their high theoretical capacity and low cost. However, due to the insulation and shuttling effect, the low load mass and continuous capacity fading remain as two substantial obstacles for the practical use of Li–S batteries. Herein, a free-standing macroscopic nitrogen-doped reduced graphene oxide film (MrGO) is fabricated for acting as the S host (MrGO/S).
