Share HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - On Saturday, Care Cottages hosted its second annual Barrels of Care, raising money to help . The organization serves children who are victims of abuse in Breathitt, Knott, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Owsley, Perry, and Wolfe counties. Auctioning off items from bourbon barrels and more, Jonah Gooch said they wanted to give folks a unique experience showcasing local artists and other pieces unique to the region.

AT&T workers on strike

HARLAN, Ky. (WYMT) - Thousands of AT&T workers throughout the southeastern part of the U.S. are on strike, saying they are unfairly treated. Officials with Communications Workers of America filed an unfair labor practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board for not “bargaining in good faith, engaging in surface bargaining, and not sending representatives to the bargaining table with the authority to make decisions.” Frank McMillian serves as President of CWA’s District 3 Local 3372.

HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - A report by U.S. News ranks Perry County fourth in the country for best healthcare access. Primary Care Centers of Eastern Kentucky CEO Barry Martin said the county has come a long way since the organization opened in 2003. “People would tell us all the time, ‘We can go to Lexington, we can go out of this area, and be seen before we can go to some place here locally, and be seen ad come back,’” he said.
