Lipid profiles and treatment response across symptom-based subgroups in acute schizophrenia: a post-hoc analysis of a randomized clinical trial
Abstract Clinical heterogeneity in schizophrenia complicates treatment optimization and contributes to substantial variability in antipsychotic response. Symptom-based stratification may help to identify more homogeneous patient groups and improve prediction of treatment outcomes. However, evidence from large longitudinal studies remain limited. Metabolic abnormalities are also highly prevalent in schizophrenia and may contribute to differential treatment response across clinical subgroups.
My entry for DEV's Week 1: Touch Grass. What I Built TrailBrief turns a pasted route notice and weather snapshot into a pocket brief you can save as a self-contained HTML file, review offline or print. It is for someone preparing a short outing who wants the important source evidence in one place. The aim is to make the screen a small part of preparation: collect the notices, check the gaps, take the brief, and verify conditions with the actual land manager and weather service before leaving.
AICAR attenuates senescence-associated phenotypic remodeling of liver sinusoidal endothelial cells via the AMPK–SIRT1/p53 axis in CCl₄-induced liver fibrosis
Abstract Liver fibrosis is a common consequence of chronic liver injury and is driven not only by extracellular matrix accumulation but also by disruption of the hepatic sinusoidal microenvironment. Liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs) are specialized endothelial cells that maintain sinusoidal homeostasis, and their dysfunction is increasingly recognized as an important contributor to fibrotic progression.
A century of party congress elections in China and the Soviet Union
Abstract Ruling parties are thought to sustain autocracies by facilitating elite power-sharing. If so, authoritarian party institutions must be reasonably resilient. We evaluate this thesis by studying dissenting votes against leader-nominated candidates in party congress elections—among the most pervasive yet least examined forms of elections in twentieth-century autocracies.

Power Tussle: Hedge Fund Activists and Short Sellers
We study interactions between activist hedge funds and large short sellers using European data on activist campaigns and mandatory disclosures of large short positions. Large short sellers are associated with a 21% higher likelihood of activist targeting, higher campaign success, and profitability. Using the EU’s 2012 harmonization of short-position disclosure rules as an exogenous shock, we find causal evidence that the regulatory change affected activist targeting.

Noise-adaptive label-free adaptation for robust Fourier phase retrieval from experimental diffraction patterns
Fourier phase retrieval plays an important role in computational imaging and diffraction-based optical measurements. However, deep-learning-based phase retrieval methods often suffer from performance degradation when applied to noisy experimental diffraction patterns due to the domain gap between simulated training data and practical measurements.
PIEZO1 impairs antioxidant capacity and drives ferroptosis via dual regulation of GPX4 in degenerative disc cells
Abstract Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) constitutes the leading cause of chronic low back pain. Oxidative stress and ferroptosis act as critical pathological drivers of IVDD progression. Nevertheless, the cellular heterogeneity of nucleus pulposus cells (NPCs), endogenous repair homeostasis, and the regulatory network linking mechanical signals to ferroptosis remain poorly defined.
The role of hypoxia-inducible factors in myocardial ischaemia–reperfusion injury and cardioprotection
Abstract In the setting of myocardial ischaemia–reperfusion injury, ischaemia induces severe myocardial hypoxia, whereas the abrupt reintroduction of oxygen during reperfusion further amplifies tissue injury through redox imbalance. This dynamic stabilizes hypoxia-inducible factors (HIFs), which become transcriptionally active and induce hypoxia-responsive gene networks.

Abstract Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (EHE) is a rare low-grade malignant vascular neoplasm characterized by local aggressiveness and metastatic potential. Clinically, EHE may involve multiple anatomical sites—including the lungs, liver, bones, and soft tissues—either synchronously or metachronously. Its non-specific clinical manifestations often complicate early diagnosis.
Immunometabolic synaptopathy: linking metabolic syndrome to epileptogenesis through trained immunity and parvalbumin interneuron vulnerability
Abstract Background: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) and epilepsy are clinically associated, but how chronic peripheral metabolic stress might influence seizure susceptibility remains unclear. The potential links among CNS-interface dysfunction, glial responses, and inhibitory-circuit vulnerability require further clarification. Proposed framework: We propose immunometabolic synaptopathy as a hypothesis-driven framework linking chronic metabolic dysfunction to impaired inhibitory-circuit resilience.
Unc-51 like kinase 3 (ULK3) contributes to autophagy and cell survival in multiple myeloma
|
Abstract Despite effective therapies such as proteasome inhibitors, multiple myeloma (MM) patients relapse with refractory disease. Analysis of RNA sequencing data from CD138 + MM patient cells (n = 813) across disease stages identifies an autophagy gene signature. Particularly elevated ULK3 expression is strongly associated with disease progression. Functional studies reveal that ULK3 supports MM cell survival via the ULK-ATG13-FIP200 complex.

How to match rescue teams to disaster zones under uncertainty? An evidential two-sided matching framework
Abstract In emergency situations, achieving efficient matching between the needs of disaster zones and the professional skills of rescue teams is a critical link to enhance rescue efficiency. This study regards the dispatching of rescue personnel as a two-sided matching decision-making process. Based on the uncertainty of the decision-making environment, a new two-sided matching framework is developed.
Rotational echelle grating spectrometer with adjustable AOTF for atmospheric observation
High-spectral resolution improves the retrieval accuracy of planetary atmospheric constituents but increases spectral dispersion length, leading to larger system volume and detector size in broadband observations, which limits spaceborne applications. To address this issue, a broadband high-spectral resolution imaging spectrometer based on a spectral-resolution-adjustable AOTF and a rotational echelle grating is proposed.

We aimed to identify data-driven dietary patterns and evaluate their associations with arterial stiffness in a population without known CVD.
Redox cycling of viral RNA polymerase controls picornavirus replication
Abstract Picornaviruses, including foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV), enterovirus 71 (EV71) and encephalomyocarditis virus (EMCV), are important pathogens that cause fever, herpes, and myocarditis in humans and animals. The interplay between picornaviruses and their hosts remains enigmatic. Here we perform porcine genome-wide CRISPR/Cas9 screens and identify methionine sulfoxide reductase B3 (MSRB3) as an essential factor for FMDV. MSRB3 deficiency inhibits FMDV replication.
