Zbtb44-mediated transcriptional repression critically regulates colonic inflammation
Abstract The regulatory mechanisms that maintain colonic immune homeostasis remain incompletely understood. Here we show that genetic deletion of Zbtb44, a previously uncharacterized member of the ZBTB transcription factor family, leads to spontaneous colitis and rectal prolapse. Zbtb44−/− T cells expressed increased IFN-γ, a pro-inflammatory cytokine strongly associated with human inflammatory bowel disease.
Mitochondria directly interact with the nuclear pore complex
|
Abstract Mitochondria regulate cellular processes through direct and indirect interactions with other organelles. A well-studied example has been contact with the endoplasmic reticulum at mitochondrial-associated endoplasmic reticulum membranes1, which control pathways including redox and calcium homeostasis2,3. Recent studies have also reported direct mitochondria–nuclear membrane contacts in cancer cells and yeast that promote pro-survival signalling4,5.

Adipocytes signal to recruit specific mRNAs from surrounding cells to restore expression deficits
Abstract Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are nano-sized, membrane-delimited, particles released by cells that carry signaling macromolecules. A major pathway of EV production is potentiated by neutral sphingomyelinase 2 (SMPD3/nSMAse2), an enzyme that generates ceramide from sphingomyelin.
Deciphering the Role of Bi Single Atoms in Bi-In 2 S 3 for Robust Solar H 2 O 2 Photosynthesis: From Adsorption Geometry to Band Structure
1 Introduction The transition toward green chemistry urgently demands sustainable routes for producing key chemical feedstocks [1-4]. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) stands out as a versatile, clean oxidant with water as its sole byproduct; [5-12] however, its industrial anthraquinone process remains energy-intensive and environmentally burdensome [13-16].
Artificial Intelligence and Female Entrepreneurship in Confucian Contexts: A Conceptual Framework
This paper explores how artificial intelligence (AI) and female entrepreneurship intersect in Confucian cultural contexts. We examine Confucianism's influence on business and gender norms, gender differences in entrepreneurial behavior, and the impact of AI on entrepreneurship. We reveal that traditional Confucian values historically constrain women's entrepreneurial roles, though modernization and policy support are reducing these constraints.
EPOP restricts PRC2.1 targeting to chromatin by directly modulating enzyme complex dimerization - Nature Communications
Abstract Polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2) mediates developmental gene repression as two classes of holocomplexes, PRC2.1 and PRC2.2. EPOP is an accessory subunit specific to PRC2.1, which also contains PCL proteins. Unlike other accessory subunits that collectively facilitate PRC2 targeting, EPOP was implicated in an enigmatic inhibitory role, together with its interactor Elongin BC.

Genetic targeting of premyelinating oligodendrocytes reveals activity-dependent myelination mechanisms - Nature Neuroscience
Abstract To myelinate axons, oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs) must stop dividing and differentiate into premyelinating oligodendrocytes (preOLs), a transient cell stage during myelination that is often stalled at human demyelinating lesions. PreOLs extend processes, surveying nearby axons to begin ensheathment. The lack of genetic tools to visualize and manipulate preOLs has hindered their in-depth study.

A programmed decline in ribosome levels governs human early neurodevelopment - Nature Cell Biology
Abstract Many neurodevelopmental defects are linked to genes involved in housekeeping functions, such as those encoding ribosome biogenesis factors. How reductions in ribosome biogenesis can result in tissue- and developmental-specific defects remains unclear. Here we describe variants in the ribosome biogenesis factor AIRIM/C1orf109 that are primarily associated with neurodevelopmental disorders.
Broadening the mutational spectrum of ASAH1, as a susceptibility gene for keloids - Journal of Human Genetics
Abstract Keloids are fibroproliferative scars influenced by genetic predisposition, notably involving the ASAH1 gene, which encodes acid ceramidase. A prior study identified a pathogenic ASAH1 variant (NM_004315.6:c.1202 T > C;NP_004306.3:p.(L401P)) in a Yoruba family with keloids. To investigate ASAH1 variant prevalence, we screened 291 Black patients with keloids in the Genetic Causes of Keloid Formation Study.

ZMYND8 drives HER2 antibody resistance in breast cancer via lipid control of IL-27 - Nature Communications
Abstract Anti-HER2 antibodies are effective but often lead to resistance in patients with HER2+ breast cancer. Here, we report an epigenetic crosstalk with aberrant glycerophospholipid metabolism and inflammation as a key resistance mechanism of anti-HER2 therapies in HER2+ breast cancer. Histone reader ZMYND8 specifically confers resistance to cancer cells against trastuzumab and/or pertuzumab. Mechanistically, ZMYND8 enhances cPLA2α expression in resistant tumor cells through inducing c-Myc.

Fucosylation of glycoproteins and glycolipids: opposing roles in cholera intoxication - Nature Chemical Biology
Abstract Cholera toxin (CT) is the etiological agent of cholera. Here we report that multiple classes of fucosylated glycoconjugates function in CT binding and intoxication of intestinal epithelial cells. In Colo205 cells, knockout (KO) of B3GNT5, which encodes an enzyme required for synthesis of lacto and neolacto series glycosphingolipids (GSLs), reduces CT binding but sensitizes cells to intoxication.

Multiple DC Modulation Coordination Strategies Based on Transient Energy Function and Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient Algorithm
1. Introduction After asynchronous networking, the problem of low frequency oscillation caused by weak damping of the AC system in weakly interconnected large systems has been improved to a certain extent, but ultra-low-frequency oscillation occurs in non-synchronous hydropower high-proportion transmission systems. It has been shown that the ultra-low frequency oscillation of asynchronous network transmitter systems is mainly due to the water hammer effect of hydropower units.

Frequency Stability Control Strategy for Voltage Source Converter-Based Multi-Terminal DC Transmission System
1. Introduction Compared with the traditional line-commutated converter-based high-voltage DC transmission (LCC-HVDC) system, the VSC-MTDC system can achieve independent control of active power and reactive power without commutation failure. With the increase of power grid scale and the increasing demand for interconnection between different regional power grids, the interconnection mode based on the VSC-MTDC system has been widely used [1,2].
LCC-HVDC Frequency Robust Control Strategy Based on System Parameter Identification in Islanded Operation Mode
1. Introduction Under high-voltage DC (HVDC) transmission systems, island operation is the term applied when the sending-end system primarily consists of several major power plants and a cluster of sending-end converter stations [1,2]. The unique energy and load distribution characteristics inherent to HVDC transmission systems make them exceptionally well-suited for long-distance high-capacity transmission, leading to their widespread adoption.

Endothelial ERα promotes glucose tolerance by enhancing endothelial insulin transport to skeletal muscle - Nature Communications
Abstract The estrogen receptor (ER) designated ERα has actions in many cell and tissue types that impact glucose homeostasis. It is unknown if these include mechanisms in endothelial cells, which have the potential to influence relative obesity, and processes in adipose tissue and skeletal muscle that impact glucose control. Here we show that independent of impact on events in adipose tissue, endothelial ERα promotes glucose tolerance by enhancing endothelial insulin transport to skeletal muscle.
