Postoperative CT habitat fusion model predicts prognosis in non-small cell lung cancer after neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy
Abstract Neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy (NAIC) has been widely adopted for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC); however, reliable tools for postoperative disease-free survival (DFS) risk stratification remain lacking. We developed and validated a habitat radiomics–clinicopathological fusion model, termed the Neoadjuvant Lung Joint Clustering (NeoLung-JC) model, for postoperative DFS stratification and prediction in patients with NSCLC who underwent surgery after NAIC.
High Adhesion Superoleophobic Oil Microdroplets to Create Ocular Hypertension In Vivo
1 Introduction In 1980, Drs. Quigley and Addicks demonstrated that injecting autologous fixed red blood cells into the anterior chamber of rabbit and monkey eyes induced intraocular pressure (IOP) elevations ranging from 24–73 mm Hg in rabbit and monkey eyes, sustained for up to 42 days [1]. The deformed red blood cells were squeezed into the trabecular meshwork (TM), blocking aqueous humor (AH) outflow and consequently causing elevated IOP.
Biodiversity Impacts of Renewable Energy
Our paper studies how the global build out of hydro, solar, and wind power affects biodiversity through land use and habitat destruction. While renewable energy (RE) is central for climate mitigation, its rapid expansion can fragment ecosystems and encroach on biodiversity sensitive areas, creating a climate–nature trade off.

Pregnancy promotes tumor metastasis through adenosine-induced immunosuppressive neutrophils in pre-metastatic microenvironment
|
Abstract Tumor metastasis is the primary cause of cancer treatment failure and mortality. Pregnant patients with cancer sometimes experience a poor prognosis and accelerated disease progression, yet the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Here we show that pregnancy enhances tumor metastasis in female mice by elevating adenosine levels, which drives pre-metastatic niche remodeling.

Blood in the Streets: Why I'm Buying Gold Miners, a Peru Tailings Giant, and Two Biotech 10-Baggers This Summer Contributed Opinion Original
There is a famous saying: when there is blood in the streets, that is when you buy. Right now, there is blood in the streets. Gold miners are getting hit. Junior exploration stocks are being thrown out with the rest. Sentiment is at generational lows. And I am buying. I have been investing in the resource sector for decades, and in that time, I have learned one lesson above all others: the time to accumulate is when nobody wants to talk to you about your positions.

Leveraging cell-type specificity and similarity improves single-cell eQTL fine-mapping
Abstract Identifying cell-type-specific eQTL is important to understand the genetic regulation of gene expressions at the cell-type level and its relevance to complex traits. However, existing eQTL fine-mapping methods are limited in power and accuracy when cell types are analyzed separately. To improve eQTL mapping, we present CASE, a Bayesian framework to perform cell-type-specific and shared eQTL fine-mapping that simultaneously analyzes multiple cell types.

CXCR5 + monocyte emigration impairs the radiation-induced antitumor immune response
|
Abstract A substantial portion of patients experience radioresistance, which impedes clinical benefit. The radiation-induced ‘protumor’ immune response is previously demonstrated to limit antitumor efficacy. However, the detailed mechanism remains to be explored. In this study, we observe CXCR5+ monocytes are enriched in tumor upon radiation. CXCR5 expression on monocytes in host is induced by tumor-derived VEGF through PI3K/mTOR/HIF-1α axis.
