Modified Dioscorea pills ameliorate cognitive impairment induced by chronic cerebral hypoperfusion via restoring the hippocampal neurovascular unit
Abstract Objective: Chronic cerebral hypoperfusion (CCH) is a major cause of progressive cognitive decline and vascular dementia in older adults. Modified Dioscorea Pills (MDP), a traditional Chinese medicinal formula, has demonstrated clinical efficacy for dementia treatment. However, the effects and molecular mechanisms of MDP on the hippocampal neurovascular unit (NVU) in CCH remain unclear.
Molecular mechanisms underlying seed enlargement mediated by seed coat development in autotetraploid castor bean
INTRODUCTION Polyploidy, or whole-genome duplication (WGD), has long been considered a fundamental driver of evolutionary processes in angiosperms (Otto, 2007; Tamayo-Ordóñez et al., 2016). This phenomenon results in an increased chromosome count through the multiplication of an entire genome.
Association of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists with atrial fibrillation recurrence after catheter ablation: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Abstract Background: Current studies suggest a potential association between the use of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) and atrial fibrillation (AF) recurrence after catheter ablation, but the findings remain controversial. Therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate this association, aiming to provide evidence for clinical prevention and treatment.

Stakeholder behaviour and carbon emissions in forest tourism
ABSTRACT Encouraging stakeholder engagement is a crucial measure to promote the low-carbon transition of forest tourism destinations. Taking 16 forest tourism destinations in Liaoning Province as an example, this study explores how the cognition, willingness, and behaviour of four stakeholder groups—tourists, destination managers, enterprises, and local residents – affect the carbon emissions of tourism destinations.
CSF/serum IL-6 ratio and its correlation with mri severity in mog antibody-associated cerebral cortical encephalitis: an exploratory pilot study
Abstract Objective: We aimed to quantify the relationship between CSF IL-6 compartmentalization and MRI lesion extent in patients with MOG-CCE, and to evaluate the CSF/serum IL-6 ratio as a biomarker of CNS-compartmentalized inflammation. Methods: Eight MOG-CCE patients (≥14 years old) were retrospectively enrolled. CSF and serum cytokines (IL-6, IL-17, IFN-γ) and MRI scans were collected.

Astrocyte exosomes shield retina from ischemia via CaMKII-autophagy
Abstract Background Retinal ischemia-reperfusion (RIR) injury impairs vision through microvascular damage and inflammation. While astrocyte-derived exosomes (ADEs) offer neuroprotection, their role in protecting retinal microvasculature is unclear. This study investigates ADEs’ effects on retinal microvascular endothelial cells (RMECs) in RIR. Methods ADEs were isolated from astrocytes. Mouse RIR and cellular oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) models were used.
Incidence and influencing factors of head and face device-related pressure injuries: Findings from frontline nurses battling COVID-19
In December 2019, Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by infection with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was first identified in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, and rapidly spread across the globe, affecting millions and overwhelming global public health systems.

Development and validation of age- and gender-specific reference intervals for the triglyceride-glucose index in a large Chinese healthy adult population
Abstract Background: The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is a recognized surrogate marker of insulin resistance. However, validated reference intervals (RIs) for the TyG index in large, general healthy populations are currently lacking, limiting its standardized application in clinical practice. Methods: This retrospective study established and validated TyG index RIs using data from adults (≥18 years) undergoing routine health examinations.
Association of maternal smoking during pregnancy with youth depression and subsequent adult chronic diseases in offspring
Abstract This study aimed to elucidate the relationship between maternal smoking during pregnancy (MSDP) and the incidence of youth depression, examine the modifying role of genetic susceptibility, and assess subsequent physical health risks in adulthood. We utilized data from 60,839 participants in the UK Biobank. Cox proportional hazards models were applied to evaluate the impact of MSDP on the onset of youth depression.
Preoperative medical therapy for acromegaly: current knowledge and clinical significance
1 Introduction Acromegaly is a rare and insidious disease, typically caused by pituitary tumors that continuously secretes excess growth hormone (GH). This disorder elevates the risk of complications, including left ventricular hypertrophy, hypertension, diabetes, osteoporosis, and sleep apnea, which significantly impair the patient’s quality of life and lifespan (1). Transsphenoidal microsurgery (TSS) is the preferred treatment of choice for most patients with active acromegaly.

Secondary metabolites with anti-inflammatory activity isolated from a marine-derived fungus Biscogniauxia sp. 8703
Abstract Four new compounds (1–4), along with 22 known metabolites (5–26), were isolated from the fungus Biscogniauxia sp. 8703. The structures of the new compounds were elucidated based on NMR, MS, and ECD analysis. Compounds 1 and 2 were identified as heliannuol D analogs, which exhibited anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting NO production in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cell, with IC50 values of 7.14 and 25.25 μM, respectively.

19.35%-Efficiency Organic Solar Cells and Reduced Non-Radiative Recombination Energy Loss by Ternary Copolymerization Strategy The low open-circuit voltage (VOC) imposed by the large energy loss, especially non-radiative recombination energy loss (ΔEnr), accounts for the behindhand power conversion efficiency (PCE) of organic solar cells (OSCs), compared to those of silicon/perovskite solar cells.
Metabolic division engineering of Escherichia coli consortia for de novo biosynthesis of flavonoids and flavonoid glycosides
Heterologous biosynthesis of natural products frequently encounters great challenges, including enzyme promiscuity and metabolic burden, particularly in those with long biosynthetic pathways (Cheah et al., 2023; Chen et al., 2019; Sun et al., 2022). The promiscuity in enzyme activity often leads to the generation of by-products and seriously decreases the efficiency of the intricate biosynthetic routes (Brooks et al., 2023; Liu et al., 2024; Qiu et al., 2022).
