A testis-specific E3 ubiquitin ligase complex governs spermiogenesis and male fertility - Nature Communications
|
Abstract The ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) represents an evolutionarily conserved machinery governing proteostasis through spatiotemporal regulation of protein degradation. While spermatogenesis involves multilayered regulatory mechanisms spanning translation to dynamic post-translational modifications (PTMs), the identity of UPS-associated E3 ligases orchestrating germ cell-specific protein turnover remains elusive.

Female reproductive tract-on-a-chip for selecting sperm with ultra-low DNA fragmentation index - Microsystems & Nanoengineering
Abstract High levels of sperm DNA fragmentation index (DFI) represent a critical factor in male infertility, with detrimental effects on embryonic development and offspring well-being. However, selecting sperm with low DFI remains a tremendous challenge. Here, we present an organ-level selection strategy capable of isolating spermatozoa with ultra-low DFI, achieving a remarkable reduction to 0.13% compared to 34.57% observed in raw semen.

Natural degradation of RNA polymerase II is essential for oocyte chromatin reorganization and maternal-to-zygotic transition - Nature Communications
Abstract The final step of oocyte growth, which reorganizes chromatin from the non-surrounded nucleolus (NSN) to the surrounded nucleolus (SN) configuration is essential for embryonic development after meiotic maturation and fertilization. The underlying mechanisms remain unknown. We identify RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) degradation as the key driver of this process. Inhibitors that trigger RNAPII degradation, but not nucleoside-based transcription inhibitors, induce NSN-to-SN transition in oocytes.

Central Asia's prospects for embracing technology
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Astana, Kazakhstan, on June 16 for the second China–Central Asia Summit marks another milestone in reviving a historic bond shaped by the ancient Silk Road — a shared civilizational journey linking China and Central Asia.
Pharmacodynamic Effect of Different Dosage Regimes of Oseltamivir in Severe Influenza Patients Requiring Mechanical Ventilation: A Multicentre Randomised Controlled Trial
1 Introduction Acute respiratory failure is a serious complication of severe influenza and is associated with a high mortality rate of > 10% [1, 2]. Oseltamivir is a competitive antagonist of neuraminidase enzymes that prevents the release of new virions from cells infected by influenza A or B virus.
China and Russia's joint institutional innovation contributes to a dynamic world economy
At a time when global governance seems ensnared in the narrative of the so-called "Thucydides Trap"—the idea that a rising China will inevitably challenge, and potentially disrupt, the US-led global order—China and Russia are focusing on supplementing, rather than confronting, the Western-led post-Cold War global economic architecture through institutional co-creation.
Repair of Retrorsine-Induced DNA Damage in Rat Livers: Insights Gained from Transcriptomic and Proteomic Studies
2. Results 2.1. RTS Exposure Upregulates Expression of Genes Related to DNA Damage and Repair, and DNA Repair Pathways Remain Activated Long After Withdrawal of PA Exposure Transcriptomic cluster analysis was used to identify DEGs among the CTRL, RTS-161, and RTS-28 groups (Table S1). A heatmap of the transcriptomic analysis for 1065 selected genes in rat livers from these groups was generated (Figure 2a).
Association between estradiol levels in early pregnancy and risk of preeclampsia after frozen embryo transfer
Introduction Preeclampsia is a major cause of maternal mortality and morbidities, perinatal deaths, preterm birth, and intrauterine growth restriction which complicates 2 – 8% of pregnancies globally (1). The pathophysiology of preeclampsia involves both maternal and fetal/placental factors.
China's central bank observation: Long-term vision amidst short-term inflation decline
China's central bank, or the People's Bank of China, has kept its main policy rates, including the Medium-term Lending Facility (MLF) and Loan Prime Rate (LPR), steady for eight consecutive months. Although the central bank has loosened monetary policy by reducing reserve requirements and increasing MLF operations to encourage lending, borrowing costs have remained stable.
The recent depreciation of the Russian ruble is nothing to fear
Russia's currency, the Russian ruble, has recently been the subject of concern due to its depreciation. Some Western media reports have claimed that it is a sign of an impending economic collapse in Russia. However, upon closer inspection, we can conclude that the Russian ruble's depreciation is not as worrisome as some have suggested. Before the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Russian ruble was relatively stable, hovering around 70 to 80 Russian rubles to the U.S. dollar for over a year.
Identification of potential angiogenic biomarkers in human follicular fluid for predicting oocyte maturity
1 Introduction Angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels from pre-existing vessels (1), is critical to ovarian follicle development and oocyte growth. The development of new blood vessels provides cytokines, growth factors, and hormones that induce follicle growth. Healthy follicles are highly vascularized, whereas those undergoing atresia have poor vascularity (2). Thus, properly functioning follicular vasculature is critically important to the fate of the follicle (3).
Histone acetyltransferase KAT2A modulates neural stem cell differentiation and proliferation by inducing degradation of the transcription factor PAX6
Downregulation or inhibition of Kat2a results in elevated Pax6 levels and hampers the differentiation of cultured NSCs To confirm the relationship between KAT2A and PAX6 during neural development, we investigated the expression pattern of KAT2A and PAX6 in primarily cultured and differentiated NSCs from E14 rat embryos. In vitro differentiation of NSCs was induced using fibronectin and removal of FGF and EGF in the medium. PAX6 and SOX2 are transcription factors tightly related to neurogenesis.
Translation regulatory factor BZW1 regulates preimplantation embryo development and compaction by restricting global non-AUG Initiation - Nature Communications
Abstract Protein synthesis is an essential step in gene expression during the development of mammalian preimplantation embryos. This is a complex and highly regulated process. The accuracy of the translation initiation codon is important in various gene expression programs. However, the mechanisms that regulate AUG and non-AUG codon initiation in early embryos remain poorly understood. BZW1 is a key factor in determining the mRNA translation start codon.
