Rhein-induced free fatty acid generation cooperates with silver ions for biofilm-infected diabetic wound healing Original
Abstract Diabetic foot infection (DFI) significantly increases the risks of hospitalization and amputation, with biofilm infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and carbapenem-resistant Escherichia coli (CREC) being key drivers of treatment failure. Here, we analyzed MRSA/CREC biofilm-infected ulcer tissues from patients using proteomics and metabolomics.
Observation of dark magnons in a van der Waals antiferromagnet/ferromagnet interface
Abstract Magnons, the quanta of spin waves, offer a promising platform for low-power information processing owing to their charge-free propagation. Dark magnon modes, which are intrinsically decoupled from electromagnetic fields, exhibit high robustness against environmental perturbations and enable stealth-like propagation, making them highly attractive for magnonic applications. However, the excitation and detection of dark magnons in antiferromagnets remain highly challenging.

Adaptive heterogeneous graph neural networks for differentiating pulmonary arterial hypertension from left heart disease
Abstract Differentiating pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) from pulmonary hypertension associated with left heart disease (PH-LHD) is clinically important because management differs substantially, but definitive classification requires invasive haemodynamic assessment together with clinical evaluation.
First-arrival time detection based on data-driven enhanced Akaike information criterion
Abstract First-arrival time picking is a fundamental and critical step in seismic data processing. The conventional Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) method is widely used due to its computational simplicity and lack of fixed threshold requirements. However, its stability and accuracy are limited by the artificially designed features. We propose a data-driven enhanced AIC algorithm (DEAIC) to improve the accuracy of first-arrival time detection.
AI drug discovery: Focusing on what matters most
AI is accelerating drug discovery, but investment has concentrated in molecule design—the stage with the best data and clearest tools. The industry’s real constraint lies elsewhere: identifying and validating the right disease mechanism. Artificial intelligence is accelerating drug discovery, compressing early timelines, and reshaping how biopharma partners with technology companies. But for a head of research, the core question isn’t whether AI works.

Closed-loop in situ isolation of deep-sea extremophiles through sensor-driven microenvironment preservation
|
Abstract Deep sea microorganisms remain largely inaccessible because existing sampling and cultivation methods fail to preserve native high-pressure microenvironments from seafloor to laboratory. Here we show a closed-loop cyber physical platform that maintains in situ deep-sea conditions through real-time sensing, digital twin control and robotic high-pressure manipulation to enable targeted isolation of extremophiles.

HYED-Net: unified hierarchical feature refinement for co-registered nuclei segmentation and virtual IHC-to-mpIF staining
Abstract Achieving precise nuclei delineation from routine immunohistochemistry (IHC) images remains challenging because of staining variability and densely touching cells. In this work, we propose HYED-Net, a unified framework that jointly synthesizes co-registered virtual staining channels and predicts nuclei segmentation. The generated staining channels are used as auxiliary features within a segmentation-oriented refinement pathway.
Comparing LLM and Human Expert Coding in Qualitative Research: A Case Study on Emotional Intelligence
You are already at the latest version Large language models (LLMs) are increasingly used for qualitative coding, yet it remains unclear how closely their coding outputs align with frameworks developed by human experts. Existing studies tend to report overall similarity but rarely distinguish thematic granularity from dimension-level semantic alignment or systematically identify which constructs are stably recovered.

Radiology report generation has matured almost entirely on 2D chest radiographs, where the default route to better reports is a larger backbone or a pre-training one on medical data. We revisit that assumption on 3D multi-sequence brain MRI, a volumetric multi-disease regime, and find that the model is not the lever.
Object localization in images via fusion of SFM and YOLO
Abstract Along with the rapid development of computer vision, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology, and autonomous driving, the precise acquisition of coordinate information for captured objects in geospatial space has become a core requirement for numerous applications. Traditional object detection methods, such as the YOLO series algorithms, primarily focus on object categories and two-dimensional bounding boxes, lacking the capability for precise estimation of object spatial positions.

Interpretable multi-label prediction of institution-defined IgA nephropathy clinical patterns using routine cross-sectional clinical and laboratory data
Abstract IgA nephropathy (IgAN) clinical heterogeneity leads to inconsistent documentation of multiple, institution-specific pattern labels, creating an imbalanced multi-label phenotyping challenge. We developed an interpretable hybrid model, the Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory-Convolutional Neural Network with Class-Specific Attention (BiLSTM-CNN-CAT), using routine cross-sectional data from 500 biopsy-confirmed IgAN patients.
RACK1 maintains mouse hematopoietic stem cells by directly binding to and stabilizing LDB1
Abstract A core complex with transcription factors (TFs) TAL1/TCF3/GATA2 and adaptors LMO2/LDB1 lies at the top of the hematopoietic transcriptional hierarchy. The mechanism(s) underlying the expression of these components remain elusive. Adaptor RACK1 interacts with multiple TFs and modulates their activation and/or stability. However, a role of RACK1 in the transcriptional control of hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) fates hasn’t been disclosed.
Multi-omics Mendelian randomization and experimental validation suggest MAPK3 as a potential drug target for knee osteoarthritis
Abstract Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a major cause of pain and disability, yet effective disease-modifying treatments remain limited. Endoplasmic reticulum stress contributes to joint degeneration, but genetically supported targets remain unclear. We integrated blood eQTL, plasma pQTL, and KOA GWAS data using Mendelian randomization and colocalization analyses.
Extensible universal photonic quantum computing with nonlinearity
Abstract Universal quantum computing requires an architecture that supports both linear circuits and, crucially, strong nonlinear resources. For quantum photonic systems, integrating such nonlinearities with scalable linear circuitry has been a main bottleneck, leaving most optical experiments without nonlinear operations and, consequently, incapable of achieving universality.

Bioinspired electrochemical artificial muscles with low voltage redox triggering and spontaneous contraction
Abstract Skeletal muscle operates through a mechanism in which calcium ions act as a trigger at low electric potentials, followed by contraction powered by adenosine triphosphate hydrolysis. Inspired by this process, we have developed an electrochemical artificial muscle with low-voltage redox triggering and spontaneous contraction. Triggering is achieved by electrochemically charging the muscles at voltages below 0.4 V, which enables I3⁻ injection and subsequent oxidation to I2.
